I don’t want to not think about food. Thinking about food means not obsessively thinking about all the terrible things happening in the world and how I’m virtually powerless to stop them. Also, food gives me joy! And is interesting to me.
Natter 78: I might need to watch some Buffy for inspiration
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
I have reached over to drink out of my empty glass 3 times in the last 5 minutes. I suppose it won't refill itself. [hand to forehead] My life is so hard.
Heh, food still gives me joy! It just has a much loosened grip on my brain that I truly appreciate.
Forgot I have a workshop this afternoon. Only ten minutes late...
I think this will be hell for everyone but I'm going to spread the misery around.
100% stealing this as my new motto.
Also echoing everyone who supports your right to live in a house that won't explode!
Sophia, that sounds like a great boss and a good performance review!
I had my annual review today also, but I've worked with my current boss for close to seven years now (and she is THE BEST) which means the conversation lasts about as long as it takes me to read the peer feedback and say "Yep, same as last year."
Ugh. I came back from lunch to an email about “strategic realignment and cost-reduction”, with more details to come. That’s not nerve wracking at all.
Oh dear! Much ~ma
For me being on ADHD meds has drastically reduced the food noise in my head, but when it has worn off in the evening, it comes back with a vengeance.
I wonder if the food noise and the cigarette noise are also ADHD noise? Maybe it is helpful for Askyes's MIL? Or M- in law? My whole family, in retrospect, is just ADHD/AuDHD as shit, and also addicted as shit to things like coffee, cigarettes, and (my health uncle) exercise and healthy eating. I still don't have the formal diagnosis but I am pretty sure that my first grade teacher's assessment just led me to mask like the dickens.
Tep, EM had carpal tunnel surgery on both arms back in the day. The hardest thing we had to deal with was me getting her into pantyhose every morning for work. Very comical. Pure farce.
Anyway, I don't expect that will be an issue for you.
I'm feeling very-of-the-moment because (a) I have my first Pilates class tomorrow; and (b) I just set an appointment for bloodwork on Tuesday to go on Ozempic.
So the project over the next six months is to completely re-do my body so it is leaner and more flexible as I get deeper into my sixties.
But first, I need to go get my eyebrows done today...

I'm extra glad I work from home dressed like a hobo! And also that it's only one hand.
But first, I need to go get my eyebrows done today...
I mean... priorities. (I am SO overdue for this particular procedure.)
Yeah, zippers were unexpectedly hard to deal with until my hand healed enough.
I have never smoked but smoking definitely calms adhd symptoms for some people. My addictions are caffeine, pasta, cheese, doomscrolling, and if I let myself go to casinos I’m quite sure I could get addicted to gambling very quickly.
