I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Imagine converting to Catholicism, and then only a few years later, you are personally called out and smacked down by the Pope.

SO FUNNY

Thanks some more for the birthday wishes! I had an email from the service the company uses to give us our little employee rewards so I clicked through and jumped through all the hoops to get into my account to find it was just "happy birthday" and no actual award. The thought doesn't count for that much when it's coming from my employer. OTOH, I do appreciate the card from my coworkers, although it made me sad to see that there are way fewer signatures on it than there used to be. But y'all's thoughts and pixels are always welcome!

Wow, when the Pope is telling you that you are doing Catholicing wrong, that's rough.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Happy Birthday, -t! May it be a good year ahead!

Feel better soon, LTC. And congratulations, Matilda!

Hi, CaBil! Good to see you!

Y'all, the data on bird flu is bad. As bad as Covid in 2020. If you have cats that you normally let outside, KEEP THEM INDOORS, because cats can transmit bird flu to humans, and if cats are outside, they'll be exposed to it. And if you aren't currently masking in public places (I wasn't until this past weekend), I really really recommend it.

Also, if you haven't gotten a flu vaccine, it's not too late to get one. This is the worst flu season since 2009. (Also recommended: for everyone, the Covid booster; and for people 50 and older: the shingles vaccine [good for about 7 years] and the pneumonia vaccine [good for 10 years].)

We have an administration now that is deeply, criminally stupid and is trying to remove all publicly accessible data on public health issues, so they're going to act like bird flu is no big deal AND also make it impossible to fact-check that big fat lie. My advice is to assume that shit is very bad and get vaccinated and take other protective measures like masking accordingly. I want you all to be as healthy as possible because I love you all.

Hi CaBil!

Office heat update - they have diagnosed the problem and are sourcing the parts needed to fix it. Meanwhile they have cobbled together some kind of workaround so that the big open space where the cubicles are will get heat from somewhere (I can hear air blowing, so I do believe it's trying and maybe by tomorrow it will actually be warm) and people with offices need to leave their doors open. I've got a fleece on over the jacket I wore for my commute and I'm still cold. It's California at sea level so not real cold by other place's standards, but pretty dang chilly for being inside
