I'm just, uh, just feeling kinda... truthsome right now. And, uh... life's just too damn short for ifs and maybes.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Yay acceptance!

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Yay, Matilda!

ltc has pnuemonia and pink eye and is thoroughly miserable. The NP said I absolutely should not cancel my hotel reservations for Saturday because she'll be fine by then and not contagious after the antibiotic. Now if TCG and I can just avoid getting sick before then...

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Get well, ltc! That's a miserable combo.

Apparently they offered Matilda an $18K scholarship as well. I like that.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Having one good solid option will make waiting to hear on the others much less fraught. Very glad for Matilda.

At least the NP thinks ltc will get un-miserable in short order.

Yes, apparently the pneumonia is only in one lobe of one lung. So, we caught it early.

Conga-rats for Matilda and good wishes for ltc. If anyone has spare -ma tomorrow, Dad is going in for his second hip replacement.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Congrats to Matilda, and I hope ltc is feeling better soon!

I've been re-watching Sweet Magnolias. It's cute and fun, and also kind of interesting from a "culture wars" sort of perspective -- it's set in a small town in South Carolina, where the kids call their parents "sir" and "ma'am" and everyone goes to church on Sundays, and the pastor at that church is a Black woman. (I've also completely given up on trying to figure out the economy of this town -- there are mentions that there used to be a mill and a union hall, but the mill closed years ago, and there are tourists who I guess like going to cute small towns, but every town that I've ever seen that looks like this has had a university or a major employer or something nearby, and they don't seem to.)
