SO many whiplashes in the work situation.
As of today (well, as of 1 pm), all the staff in my office are still able to telework, because they might be represented by a union and the contract with the union was negotiated to allow for telework. So *I* still have to go into work 5 days/week, but my one local team member on a telework schedule (and most of the other teams) don't.
I was planning to bake a bunch of treats to bring to the office next week for everyone who will be turning up, but I guess I can hold off a bit.
I'm sure senior management will renegotiate the contract, or something. But my boss hates this all so much that he's slow-walking and doing a bit of malicious compliance where he can get away with it.
This is one reason why he hates this so much: [link] That was his mentor. It's enraging, petty, and a really good way to piss off the entire agency. People really liked her.
Our whole management team is trying to play along while not really doing it, because whole-hearted compliance would probably mean a bunch of our staff would quit. And it's nearly impossible to get mid-level or senior professionals on a GS salary in the Bay Area.
