Oh, and flea, tell DH to read the article at Just Security about the Fork offer. That whole situation is bullshit and I wouldn't touch it with a ten-foot pole.
Natter 78: I might need to watch some Buffy for inspiration
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
I’m going to be shocked if there are any survivors. 64 on plane 3 on helicopter.
Survivors would be miraculous.
Flight from KS hit a black hawk helicopter apparently.
Every single description says that but there's video that, perhaps due to the line of sight, appears to show the helicopter getting close, closer and boom to the plane all over BlueSky.
I literally trust nothing in the media. Newsweek described it as "a small 'aircraft incident.'"
Yeah I saw that video too. The one I saw was reported to be from a live cam. I’m not seeing it being shared on the AP or CNN live updates I’m watching though, so I remain skeptical.
The one I saw was from Earthcam's Kennedy Center camera.
So scary—I’m sure lots of people saw it, since it was right in the middle of town. Yikes.
Horrible night of sleep. Will a domestic crash ever not cause me to have bad dreams of losing my father? Maybe, but not yet. He stopped flying in 2002 ftr.
New added feature was intertwining losing my best friend Lisa who died in 2023 to the dream, so that’s awesome.
Everyday it seems dumber and dumber that my job is a lot of writing up forms on people for speeding or being late to work or not sweeping a building well enough.
My old office in DC was right on the river and it was *always* startling when those helicopters flew by—so huge and loud and distressing.
I’ve been enjoying the fednews sub Reddit. People are PISSED about how Trump is fucking with federal workers. I haven’t heard from anyone who is taking the Fork offer at face value.
My in-laws live in Pentagon City, thank goodness my FiL wasn't at the airport last night. (He's a retired State Dept officer, a few days a week he volunteers at the airport.)
Former X employees have shared that the "buyout" offer letter was almost verbatim the same one they got at X that turned out (shockingly) to be a complete sham. So I'm glad to see that it seems to be driving more union membership than resignations!
Also, Congress still hasn't passed a budget for the current fiscal year. It'd be easy for them to Not Include the "severance" payments when (if) they get around to finalizing the budget.
