You've got friends to have good times with. When you need to share the trauma of a badly-written book with someone, that's when you go to family.

Will the board take me back?

Emily, honey, everyone wanders away from the caravan. You've wandered back and we're happy to see you - hot beverage of choice on the stove, drag up a cushion, tell us your doings.

I am thatparkerwoman on Bluesky. I am gently trying to coax my local Buy Nothing group to move off of FB and onto the app, but given the community it's going to be like the mountains of Kleenex that are pretty much all that's going in our trash these days: the people producing it are aware of the existence of alternatives and aren't interested; if that's as much as I can minimize output I will work with it and if an opportunity for change comes along I will jump on it.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Hmm. It's possible I over-post.

Seems unlikely.

Matilda and I went to Sketchfest last night to watch Celebrity Autobiography last night.

It's the same show I saw last year but most of the cast was different so it had a very different vibe. Last year they had Tony Hale and Thomas Lennon. This year it was Pamela Adlon, Richard Kind and Ralph Macchio. (Jennifer Tilly was in both shows and we were guests of her and Phil).

Pamela Adlon was incredible, with perfect comic voice characterizations for everyone from Carol Channing to (most memorably) Arnold Schwarzenegger. Richard Kind was a pro's pro, milking laughs out of Vanna White's memoir, and Sandy, the dog from Little Orphan Annie.

Went out to dinner in North Beach afterwards and it was fun.

ION, I think I've done all the Necessary and Essential things before the Japan trip. I followed up my epic battle vs. AT&T with a call to the bank to ensure our cards weren't flagged for overseas charges.

I just need an ESim card ordered that Matilda and I will activate in Haneda airport when we get there.

Now's the fun part of filling out the itinerary.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

The lack of a group to join where only group member see posts is one reason why those groups won’t leave FB.

-t you can log off FB in one of the settings pages, I think. I also used on my phone, but went via web not the app.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I’ll keep poking around, msbelle

I got a new laptop. Well my parent's got me a new laptop. The early 2011 one would no longer communicate with my phone, run gmail through my mail, or operate the current Chrome.

Now I am all set up and I have no chords that will work with it. WTF did Apple stop using USB??? FUCKERS.

I adore all you motherfuckers so much -- PMM.

Will the board take me back?

I was about to answer this but amyparker said it better than I could.

Delighted to see your pixels, Emily. (And yours, Parker.)

Now tagless for your comfort.

Will the board take me back?

This is the place I will always come back to.

It took me a long time to figure out how to log out of all my meta apps. Which creeps me out quite a bit. I think it will be very, very good for me. I'm lisa70.bluesky.social. Also, I'm on signal and snapchat if you have my phone number. Or if you want it, just let me know and I'll send it to you.

It's really weird how quiet online is without the filler bs that FB and IG put in the feeds.

Also realizing how much of IG was people just reposting memes. Since Bluesky, at least what I've seen this far, is more text posts than images and memes, there is less of that from the people I followed.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Alas, my job has just added new tasks that involve being on FB a fair amount. Otherwise, I'll probably continue to use it to keep up with relatives and friends while rolling my eyes at anything purporting to be news or verified facts.

"In the equation E = mc⬧, c⬧ is a pretty big honking number." - Scola

Thanks for the welcome back! Hec, how long will you be in Japan? I remember that Matilda was going, but I missed details.

I actually really enjoyed TikTok, but it was immediately too addictive. Also trends move so fast that I would get nostalgic after a week. I feel a little sad about all those "men like pterodactyls!" and cosplay lipsync videos.
