I've asked people to put "Buffista" in their profile so it's easy to find each other over there.
About a month ago I linked everyone I knew that had added that to their profile to Theodosia's post about the Buffista feed but it doesn't look like anyone else has been added to that feed since it was set up.
Looks like the Sunset Fire is dying down. Thank god the winds aren't nearly as bad today as yesterday and they were able to do water drops.
We've been calm for hours so the Mojave Desert isn't sending so much warm and very dry wind to LA. I bet Joshua Tree and surroundings are packed with evacuators rushing into Air B&Bs though.
I could go outside and see what it's like to have real neighbors again.
The problem is that I find bsky more Classic Twitter than Fbook -- I want to be able to read longer posts, enjoy pictures, get part of groups and so on.
Yes, this - I'm glad to see Bsky picking up steam as a Twitter replacement but it really doesn't fill the same niche as FB. The closest option for FB groups is probably Discord but only if everyone actually picks up and moves there.
(Tumblr is its own delightful little world and I don't want it to replace ANYTHING. I want it to continue marching on to the most unhinged of beats, forever.)
I'm boopless.
It's a blue sky (on theme!) morning in San Francisco, so neither on fire nor snowpocalypse.
You should all come by.
Oof, seeing a long list of actors who lost their homes:
Anthony Hopkins, John Goodman, Anna Faris and Cary Elwes, Adam Brody, Paris Hilton, Billy Crystal, James Woods, Maria Bamford, Ricki Lake.
Watching the speakers at Jimmy Carter's funeral. Quite a human. Understatement.
My MIL on the phone just explained that the LA mayor took money from the fire department to give to the homeless. I, fortunately, had already taken klonopin this morning, so I was able to hiss at my husband about it not being true rather than grabbing the phone and screaming at her.
