This waiting for the email part is really not fun but I'm sure as hell not going to do any actual work while I wait...

That sounds like a bad idea to deliver news about layoffs. Not that there's a great way, but "sit here and wait for the hammer to fall"...not ideal.
I imagine they meant it to happen faster. I just got the email that I was not laid off and there are more meetings tomorrow. My one long time coworker in the same group also not laid off. I guess I'll find out about everyone else tomorrow.
Still not very motivated to do actual work...
I just got the email that I was not laid off
Well, take that win, I guess.
Oh, yeah, it's a relief but I am still tense AF. We're supposed to do our performance appraisals this week, too, and I never want to do that but really truly very much do not want to right now!
I'm glad you are still there, -t, but that was not awesome... and I read them all in a row just now.
I'm sorry about all the layoffs but glad you still have your job.
Penny has a really really bad UTI. Also has lost 2 lbs since last year and has swollen bleeding gums. So she is getting antibiotics, pain meds, a full, blood work up and she'll need a dental cleaning (I don't do that with my cats) and possibly have some or all of her teeth pulled.
And she has arthritis in her knees and hip. But she purred loudly through the entire vet visit. Loved getting pets from the vet and tech and yowled all the way to the vet and back
Wow, yikes t, but I guess yay still having a job!
Askye glad you were able to get her seen quickly.
I continue to not be able to get on my work VPN for more than about 5 minutes. Very frustrating when I actually DO want to try to get work done!
Poor kitty
My newest coworker was laid off. She was worried she would be when we got the notice about early retirements and cost-cutting, and she just finished moving all her stuff up here from SoCal so I am bummed for her getting her life all disrupted. And bummed for us having to reorganize how we will get everything done. In the meeting they stressed that the work the laid off people were doing is not supposed to just get transferred to the rest of us, it is somehow supposed to shrink or get more efficient or something but I don't see how that's supposed to happen in our case. We hired her because we needed another person! The newest guy in Supply was also let go, so it looks like a certain amount of LIFO going on, but he was technically the only Supply Planner we had, the rest of the group had transferred to other areas (or resigned), so I don't know how that's supposed to work either.
The "interim leadership" at the top is the owner's son (who has been running the factory part of the parent/holding company for a long time) and daughter (who started and has been running one of our newer brands) so it's a major return to being a family run business. I'm not sure whether that's going to be a good thing or not. Probably a mixed bag.
