The Math Greek is driving up from L.A. after work today (he wasn't even sure he would make it up tomorrow) and I am trying to stay up after spending the afternoon and early evening at Juliana's and some of you know how difficult that is.
In short, Merry Christmas to those that celebrate and happy holidays to all!
The first update of the day is the call to celebrate Jesse, Theodosia, and Rayne's triple Buffista birthdays. I'm unsure what Rayne is up to these days, but I hope all are having lovely days. May the coming year be much grander than expected.
We had a very full but lovely day. Went to the dog park early, picked up the kids at FLL at 9, had a big breakfast at home, opened a bunch of presents that were very well received including both of them changing to new duds immediately. Took Lana out to her parent's house and visited with them, drove to BIL's, and watched Beyoncé and some bad football, drove home, fed the animals and took Skinner to the park, came home and did breakfast dishes, then collapsed to sip Crémas at a very late hour with my book in bed.
One of the basketball players' mom gave DH a big bottle of Crémas when he mentioned how yummy it was. Haitian concoction of creamed coconut, sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, vanilla essence, almond essence, lime, and Haitian rhum. (ingredients copied from Google) Let's just say a lot of rum. So sweet and tasty and boozy. No doubt way more calories than imaginable, but as they say, worth the calories.
I hope that all are enjoying the holidays!
That sounds like a lovely day, Laura. As do the other check-ins.
I will have to seek out Crémas. That sounds like my jam.
We had a great morning of opening presents, eating a yum, improvised egg/potato casserole, and lounging. Everyone stayed in our Christmas pjs all day, and we watched a couple of movies, chatted, napped, and ordered in dinner. Perfect. Now we are meeting DH's mom for brunch and heading home.
I seem to have a slight cold that hit yesterday, but it's getting better today, so I don't think I'm heading toward A Sickness for which I am grateful.
Cheerios:
I had a particularly good run of picking out gifts for people this year -- like, I could picture each one of them in the item of clothing I bought, and, as it turns out, they were all so pleased! It was cool. Some years, I'm like, "Eh, that'll do...," so it was fun to have multiple home runs.
I will have to seek out Crémas. That sounds like my jam.
Cubans, Puerto Ricans, and the other islands all seem to have some variety of the same type of thing by some name. Creamy stuff plus rum. I see them here as coquito too.
Yes Crema sounds like the Puerto Rican Coquito that I make and love.
Very low key day here yesterday. Lovely.
Happy birthday to the 26th babies.
Happy Birthday Theodosia!
Happy Birthday Jesse!
We're departing for the airport soon and already playing the game "how late will our flight be?" Was 5:05, currently 5:20. Bad weather in Dallas, of course.
