I kind of never got the hang of twitter, so I feel like I'm looking at a steep learning curve and I have so little energy to put into it, but if it's going to be actually useful maybe I can make myself do it

I am happy to report that, by the skin of my teeth,* I have successfully renewed my French ID card at the consulate.
[*I thought I didn't need to bring photos with me, but I realized about an hour before my appointment that I did. Thank god for the place I found nearby that took walk-ins and knew all the various specifications.]
I am less happy to report I have realized my spoken French is atrocious, not having had to use it in so long and working mostly on my Italian these days.

It’s a few days late, but I’ve started putting up the tree. Usually this is an all-day thing the Friday after Thanksgiving, accompanied by the Lord of the Rings (extended editions). So I expect this will take several evenings, what with work and all. Javier isn’t quite the paws-on manager Leifur was, but he is sticking his nose in.

Popping in to say that, while the AP hasn't officially called it, the GOP candidate has conceded in CA #13, leaving us with a 220-215 House. So Republicans have lost two seats since the 2022 elections.

That is all seats in the House (435). Gaetz was reelected, and could in theory take his seat, so that is included.
Rubio is a senator. His seat can be filled by appointment.
But his and any other defections to the administration will only be a factor once the new Congress convenes in January.
