Whoo-hoo! Thank you, Teppy.
I have joined Bluesky but haven't really done anything with it but I'll remember to check it for news and things like that.
Wow - re: S Korea, I had no idea! Nice to know bluesky is a good source, too! I need to learn how to use it. I kind of never got the hang of twitter, so I feel like I'm looking at a steep learning curve and I have so little energy to put into it, but if it's going to be actually useful maybe I can make myself do it
I am happy to report that, by the skin of my teeth,* I have successfully renewed my French ID card at the consulate.
[*I thought I didn't need to bring photos with me, but I realized about an hour before my appointment that I did. Thank god for the place I found nearby that took walk-ins and knew all the various specifications.]
I am less happy to report I have realized my spoken French is atrocious, not having had to use it in so long and working mostly on my Italian these days.
Excellente!
Bluesky is definitely close to what Twitter once was for international breaking news. I was following some Korean journalists immediately.
I tried making beeswax food wraps today but they didn’t turn out as well as I had hoped. Looks like folks are getting candles for gifts instead.
Timelies all!
I'm sorry for your loss, Calli.
It’s a few days late, but I’ve started putting up the tree. Usually this is an all-day thing the Friday after Thanksgiving, accompanied by the Lord of the Rings (extended editions). So I expect this will take several evenings, what with work and all. Javier isn’t quite the paws-on manager Leifur was, but he is sticking his nose in.
ETA: thank you, Sheryl.
one year, "our" feral cat watched us put the tree up.
