Natter 78: I might need to watch some Buffy for inspiration
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
I need to update my DL I guess. Not that I ever fly.
Jasmine the kitten is doing well. I looked at her paw and at first I thought she had a callous coming off but I realized her paw was split and it is healing but the poor thing. The steroids have worked and I was talking to M's cousin, W and he showed me this spray bottle he cleaned out and put rubbing alcohol in and he's been spraying Jasmine's paw once or twice a day to keep it clean. And then he blows on her paw to soothe her. He has also been making sure M's mom doesn't feed her human food

We didn't have an option on the Real ID stuff.
Nick was the journalist snatched by the KGB as a "spy" and held for a couple weeks during the Cold War, and that was only an interesting sidelight to his life. Most of the speakers were journalists or academics, so the reminiscences were so well-written that I'd have had to work hard to lose attention.
A life well lived! How cool.
I ran this morning but that was about it for productivity, as I didn't fold or put away the laundry, nor empty the dishwasher.
Matilda is coming up in an hour for dinner and some TV time.
Yesterday, she went to a play with her bestie's (Iris) mom, Janet to see a musical about The Day The Sky Turned Orange In San Francisco. An historical event that we actually witnessed.
When does she go off to Japan? I should know by now, but dates are often meaningless to the small part of my brain that's supposed to keep track of things.
I needed to renew a prescription this morning, so when I went to my smart phone app, it reminded me that I'm like a year overdue for a mammogram. The appointment I got offered (at a convenient local center) was in mid-March! I could look for something sooner, but this place was so efficient the last time -- I was 15 minutes early, so they showed me directly into the exam room, and I was done like 5 minutes after the appointment was scheduled to start!
March is pretty good -- one of my residents, who uses a wheelchair due to polio, has very limited mobility and can't stand up for long enough to get clamped, so she has to schedule at one of the facilities that has a horizontal setup where she can lie down, and her first appointment is June....
I need to call my Dr to renew prescriptions because I can't do it online for some reason. And it's not my ADHD meds. That it will let me renew online
I also need to call the Walmart Auto Center near me to work out an appointment and which tires I should get. I tried to schedule something but it cancelled. And I really need at least 2 new tires.
Also in what is possibly a sign about the economy our store has been really slow. Thanksgiving is next week and this time last year I was telling people where the fried onions were all the time. But I have only seen a few people really stocking up for Thanksgiving.
Or maybe it's just an after effect today Hurricane Helene.
When does she go off to Japan? I should know by now, but dates are often meaningless to the small part of my brain that's supposed to keep track of things.
She has to be in Kyoto on January 29th. But we'll go to Tokyo before that so probably flying out of SF on Jan 24th or something.
They call it "Spring Semester" but basically she'll be in Japan for February through April. Slightly less than 3 months for Visa reasons.
So excited for Matilda!!
Thank you for the ~ma for my mom. Reports are good so far. My dad is not very communicative (he's sending a daily group text) so I called my brother last night for more details and to conspire on providing help that will be needed but not asked for.
