How exciting, Calli!
I can't even bring myself to watch SNL clips
Me neither. My political interest right now is limited to checking on the House races that are still outstanding.
Glad Skinner is on the mend.
Matilda's boyfriend (hereinafter MBF), and her friend Allison and two of their friends are all recent high school grads are all working and taking classes at City College. They've all got tricky home circumstances (MBF commuting in from his mom's place in San Leandro, Allison living with a very strict, religiously conservative Aunt who raised her) and itching to get out on their own in the City.
I was able to give the four of them deposit money to get into an apartment they'll share in the Tenderloin. Which is funky but centrally located (and lots of great Vietnamese food around there). Felt good to give them a boost.
My niece lives in the Appalachian part of Georgia and she's really hating all the pro-Trump energy there, so I'm going to fly her out for a visit soon. I'm going to have to pry Matilda out of the Garden Apartment though. She basically moved down there during mono and has enjoyed having her own pad with MBF and friends coming over and sleeping over.
Mac is basically bed bound except to go on crutches to the bathroom about 12 feet away. He is uncomfortable a lot but not in pain and he is bored, but not exploring any online learning he could do that might help him when he is recovered.
He has been sick to his stomach twice and we are unsure why, but I’m making him eat more bland food for a bit.
I did not have crying in public on my bingo card, but the sadness of this reality hit me as I’m trying to do my normal weekend things that I skipped yesterday. I know these local business are progressive and are as devastated as me.
My life has become much more local focused since I moved here, but it will be even more so now. Dog treats, coffee, granola, soap, shampoo, lotion, baked goods, veggies. I can get all that locally produced. I think I can easily go a few years without buying much in the way of new clothes or shoes and I can choose to support a few locally owned small shops for that. Big corporations can fuck right off. I’m down to one streaming service and I will put what I was spending there towards NPR and PBS.
Msbelle is he on painkillers? If I don’t have them with food it can make me sick.
I can't even bring myself to watch SNL clips. I might be able to watch Jon Stewart talking with Heather Cox Richardson later.
Exactly where I am at. Been reading magical romance novels, mostly. Listening to the new Louise Penny which does have some politics in the plot but at least it’s Canadian politics
I didn’t realize you were planning on moving so soon, Calli! How exciting!
Seth Meyers is my usual, and I can't even bear to look at the YouTube thumbnails at the moment.
I don't even know the results of local races, because I didn't want to check the news and see the results for POTUS and Senate, even though I already knew what those results were.
Okay, I just googled because I really did want to know, and almost everyone I voted for (straight Democratic ticket) was elected, other than POTUS and Sherrod Brown for Senate. And I really am glad so many Democrats were elected/re-elected in local positions, plus my district's U.S. House Representative (thank goodness). It's weird living in a blue corner of such a red state.
I was heartsick Over Sherrod. Scott and Cruz remain. It is ugly.
I love Sherrod.(in a very platonic, policy-driven way that still makes it hard for me to believe that everyone doesn't. Even though it took me a minute to fully catch on that he wasn't a black man named SherrOD and that he didn't just strain his voice once.) The disability community nationwide will miss him sorely. (same with Casey, even if BC and I didn't agree about "schmasmortion")
If I couldn't be here when Ted Cruz was voted out, at least I can leave him behind. I'm going to have two Dem senators, instead of Cornyn and the Zodiac Killer.
