The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

he will want comfy pants after the surgery

Also think about questions such as:

  • Will he be able to tolerate a seat belt in the car on the ride home?
  • Will he have a catheter at home? For how long? Will he need extra bags? Will he need to make changes to his sleeping arrangements?

eta: These are a couple of topics that are commonly mentioned in my prostate cancer support groups as things that guys weren't prepared for.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

Thanks, dcp -- I definitely hadn't thought of those. I'll make a list to follow up on.

Dentist visit involved unexpected oral surgery -- the implant (noun) failed, which just means it didn't implant (verb) in my jaw and decided to leave the premises. The dentist said that can happen, and he gave me a different type of bone graft, and I'll get a replacement implant in a few weeks. The upside to unexpected oral surgery is that the dentist played David Bowie.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

More zombified jaw?

Yeah, apparently the first bone graft was bovine, but today's was human zombie bone graft. I didn't realize I was part cow. But now I am more zombie than cow. What a day.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Yikes, Steph! I'm way way overdue for dental work.

I shall follow your implant story with interest, Steph, since that will be my next step (hoping it will be a successful one) after I get my braces off.

Voted just now and am finishing up dinner out. Treat yo'self-style.

Airport food is ridiculous. I just spent all the money for mediocre crap. Sigh. And the plane is delayed so I’ll probably be home around midnight…which will feel like 3am. And apparently my heat is not working—the friend who is staying at my house turned it on but it’s not heating. So gotta figure that one out too.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Mr. S was discharged yesterday, and is back in the partial hospitalization program. He’s staying with the nanny as Gary left on Tuesday for the code hearings. (Me and Mr. S alone for more than one hour is a disaster waiting to happen)

Tomorrow I fly out to Columbus for OVFF. Gary will join me there sometime on Saturday. At some point, I need to pack.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Sheryl, I hope you're getting enough support for yourself in all of this.
