Jayne (Husband): Oh, I think you might wanna reconsider that last part. See, I married me a powerful ugly creature. Mal (Wife): How can you say that? How can you shame me in front of new people? Jayne (Husband): If I could make you purtier, I would. Mal (Wife): You are not the man I met a year ago.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

My furnace, which controls heat AND hot water, won't turn on. This is super-annoying, since it's been cool the past weekend, and it's going down to 39F tonight. I have a space heater which is adequate for my tiny study and an electric blanket for bed.

And I can go shower at the YMCA on a guest pass for $15, so there's that. I wasn't going to pay holiday prices for a plumber on the weekend, so it will be a whole process in the next week.

Unless the furnace deigns to start working again, which it did a couple months ago. I've tried all the things I could think of that might have made a difference then -- reset buttons (on both thermostat and furnace). So annoying, and potentially quite expensive.

That’s frustrating Theo but glad it’s not an emergency.

The NY Mets vibes here in the city are the only thing keeping me functional this October.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

I don't totally know what's happening in that video, but I know I like it.

In the early part of the season, the Mets were terrible: 17½ games out of first place. On June 12, Grimace threw out the first pitch for their game, and since then, they had the best record in baseball. And now they’re in the NLCS.

Of course, Eric Adams is doing everything he can to kill the vibes, fuck that guy.

Thrive to spite them

Grimace is awesome. I read that a recent Final Jeopardy clue was confusing to some...the Answer was something about a mascot and a company that tweeted shit shakes (I can't remember the exact phrasing) and the question is Who is Grimace? Which apparently confounded some people but I knew because I had read articles about Grimace shakes. I guess it was considered too online and therefore confusing.

Too bad Grimace can't come to FSU and work some magic on the team.

I have an onerous task to do today that I don't want to but can't put off any longer. I also want to sleep all day again but that kept me up last night. So my goals for today is Onerous Task and No Naps..

My only vacation time this year is Oct 26-29. Not long at all but I am saving my PTO to go to Florida in the spring. Or fall but not sure I can wait until the Fall. I really really miss the insane amount of PTO Belk provided (between PT0 and personal days it came out to 5 weeks)..

Does it not turn on at all, or does it start up and immediately stop?

Okay, that's awesome. The power of Grimace! (Maybe he could visit the Bengals next.)
