Mr. Scola’s wardrobe by Botany 500

I follow on Instagram the artist who sculpted this for the New Yorker. I commented that it looked like Lady Penelope, and she replied to me and said that she never even heard of The Thunderbirds before! How can someone who makes puppets for a living not know about The Thunderbirds?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

How can someone who makes puppets for a living not know about The Thunderbirds?

Maybe she's not 50+ yrs old?

After some harassment on my part I got Matilda to move back upstairs to her bedroom from the Garden Apartment.

So last night we watched a few episodes of Wednesday for our Halloween allotment (totally worth a rewatch just to see Gwendoline Christie in Vertigo drag), and several episodes of Nobody Asked For This on Netflix.

I keep having brief pangs thinking how much ita would have loved to see Seth Cohen wooing Veronica Mars. Admittedly, she was always more of a Ryan guy than Seth.

Come to think of it, real live Ben McKenzie marrying Morena Baccarin would probably eclipse that.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

I need to finish my most recent Wednesday rewatch. I got sidetracked by COVID (amusingly, given that the first time I watched it, it was because the household had COVID) in July.

However, I am 100% in a 1960s Addams Family wallow at the moment, so Wednesday and Enid will have to wait.

I tried to get Matilda into 60s Addams Family but she'd been so thoroughly indoctrinated with the 90s movies that she rejected TV Wednesday outright. Matilda is ride or die with Christina Ricci.

Carolyn Jones and John Astin will always be my ultimate Gomez and Morticia (not in that order). No others can compare.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

Something about John Astin's big smile had an underlayer of "step away, that guy is crazy." He used it to good effect in Night Court too.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

I love the 90s movies so, so much but TV Wednesday is pretty great. I adore Bianca the siren.

I bought a bunch of Halloween themed stuff and am making cookies and going to ice them, I think. I don’t want any, because I took my second zepbound shot yesterday, but I do want to make them!!

Went to the dance last night. The girl I made out with was there. First I thought she was with this other girl, who reminded me of someone I briefly knew like eight years ago, that two of my friends were battling for (who then moved out of town and I hadn’t seen since) Then I was with an acquaintance and her friends and turned out one of her friends had made out with that girl, the month before. And then she turned out to BE the woman from 8 years ago—she’d moved out of town but then moved back.

Sadly I did not get to make out with the hot girl again, she was busy macking on someone else (and hadn’t, say, messaged to ask if I’d be there or anything). Did, after reminiscing about the good old debaucherous parties of yore, ask friend of friend to make out, but it was a mistake, it was not good at all. Bummer. But I had a really good time nonetheless with new friends and old.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

A humble gif reaction to an annual self assessment process at work that, for reasons that are beyond me, kept last year's wording. Here's what I didn't put as answers in that damn form:

Take the time to reflect on the past year [link]

What were the most significant obstacles you faced this year? [link]

If you'll encounter similar challenges again, what would you do differently? [link]

How would you rate your overall performance this year? [link]

Thrive to spite them

Happy birthday Matt, Cashmere, and Megan walker

mabelle - gum (,for when the plane takes off), hand sanitizer, wet wipes, Tide pen are the only thongs I can think of to suggest. Maybe a small bag to stash dirty clothes in.

1960s Addams Family is the best. I have a coffee table book of Charles Addams' cartoons I need to dig out and enjoy for the spooky season.

I couldn't get into Wednesday. I don't have Netflix right now but I will try it again sometime.

One of the Team Leads, Stephanie, s an amazing baker. She made red velvet cake for someone's birthday at work (well his girlfriend arranged it as a surprise). She makes her own butter! And she has chickens so she uses fresh eggs. I always forget her baked goods aren't that sweet . Just sweet enough. Normally for me it's hard to taste the cocoa in red velvet cakes, they just taste sweet , but I could really taste it in hers.

I kind of want to ask her how much she'd charge for a German chocolate cake.

Once again it's my day off and I was wide awake at 6 am. On days I work I'm struggling to wake up on time...why does my body do that?
