Happy birthday, Jen!
I woke up at 4am after a tense dream where JZ and I were troubled over money.
Perhaps prompted by searching for something in my gmail yesterday and finding a fraught email exchange between us in 2009 when we were really struggling.
A couple weeks ago, though, I had a dream about her where she wiped out in a mud puddle and came up laughing. And it was good to see her laughing face again.
Anyway, I've been up since 4am, and after sitting on the edge of my bed in the dark, unable to sleep for a while I realized how gloomy that image was and decided to just get up for a bit.
It got up to 97 in SF yesterday. No bueno. But we're supposed to see a gradual decline starting today. Our houses are not built for hot weather! Nobody has AC. At least Matilda is staying comfortable in the Garden Apartment which is usually about 15 degrees cooler.
Many happy returns, JenP!
I'm sorry about the tense dream, Hec. The puddle dream sounds like a nice one though. I gave up and got a window A/C for camp because no one ever used air conditioning in the Adirondacks. It only gets used a handful of times a year, but it is nice to have the option.

It should only get up into the 80s today so it'll be easier.
I'm planning on putting a heat pump in for the attic, and putting solar panels up too, so those are home improvements I've got on the list. Probably after Matilda goes to college.
Yikes. Tampa is in big trouble. Cat 5.
Since Sunday night, the storm’s rate of strengthening has reached extreme levels — its intensity leaping from a Category 1 to 5. The storm’s peak winds Monday midday were up to 160 mph, a 70 mph increase in 12 hours.

Damn, and it's not even supposed to make landfall until Wednesday, right? Maybe it'll lose intensity by then.
They do expect it to lose steam. At least going to 4 and hopefully 3. But keeping strong all the way across the state including Orlando. The whole middle section of the state will be without power for a while.
Yikes that is scary!! I hope it magically weakens quickly.

Even a 3 going across the entire state is going to be very bad.
Here's hoping everyone can get battened down safely.
Happy Birthday, Jen P!
This weekend I got my Cat People for Harris/Walz sign from the local Democratic Party HQ and put it up in the yard.
