Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Well, this has been another shitshow of a week.

Sunday Mr. S insisted he needed a COVID shot that same day, so I managed to get him an appointment. He got the COVID shot and the flu shot.

Monday he was ill, so he stayed home from school.

Tuesday he had a huge meltdown at school including being physically aggressive towards another student, and running off from school. Gary decided that that meant no screen time that evening. When Mr. S got home and heard that, he had another huge meltdown and trashed our bathroom and our bedroom.(Pulled down books from both Gary's and my bookshelves, pulled my earring racks off the wall and threw them across the room.) He also got hold of his ADHD medicine and took a handful of pills, which led to a trip to the ER in an ambulance. I rode in the ambulance and Gary joined me in the ER when he got off the Metro. We(Gary and I) were finally told we could go home around 11:30 pm. We still had to clean up the room and didn't get to sleep until after 1.

Wednesday Gary's phone went off a couple of times during the night.I managed to make it through most of a work day. Mr. S had gotten aggressive during the night, so they had to sedate him. They were also looking for a bed in an inpatient pediatric behavioral unit to transfer him to.

Today they found one in Northern Virginia. We went by the hospital so Gary could fill out paperwork. This ended up taking most of the morning, then they told him he needed to follow the ambulance to the facility, so we didn't get to attend services.

On top of all this, my iPad stopped charging early in the week. At first I thought it was the charger, so I bought a new one. That didn't help, so I made an appointment with the Apple Store to look at it. Turns out the charging port was dead, so they're sending it back, and I will get a new one in a week.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Oh Sheryl, I think of you and Gary and Mr S all the time. I know you are doing your best for him.

In personally mildly exciting news, our new full-time programs assistant started, so my job just lost a lot of stress as I was the backup programs person when one of the others wasn't in (at least one day a week, and sometimes a lot more). She's taken to the job like a duck to water, too.

I even got to join in on a program item, since we had a short-story read-aloud session, and needed to recruit a couple more readers, and I'd finished all the paperwork that I hadn't had time for, so my performing itch got scratched.

Now if I can just get some stuff at home straightened out...

Yay for less job stress !

I got good news from Mom..she's heard from her landlady (who lives where we did up on the mountain). And her landlady is giving everyone a rent furlough. So mom is using that to get donations to a friend of hers who lives in a more mountain area

Mom was looking for small bottles of liquid formula and finally found some.

Your mom is really truly paying it forward, then!

Thanks, all. I guess we'll just wait and see what happens.

In the meanwhile, Gary's aunt(who lives in California) is staying with us over the weekend. She has a board of directors meeting starting Monday, and decided to come here first. Hey, it gave us an excuse for cleaning the second bedroom. :)

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Happy birthday, Jen!

I woke up at 4am after a tense dream where JZ and I were troubled over money.

Perhaps prompted by searching for something in my gmail yesterday and finding a fraught email exchange between us in 2009 when we were really struggling.

A couple weeks ago, though, I had a dream about her where she wiped out in a mud puddle and came up laughing. And it was good to see her laughing face again.

Anyway, I've been up since 4am, and after sitting on the edge of my bed in the dark, unable to sleep for a while I realized how gloomy that image was and decided to just get up for a bit.

It got up to 97 in SF yesterday. No bueno. But we're supposed to see a gradual decline starting today. Our houses are not built for hot weather! Nobody has AC. At least Matilda is staying comfortable in the Garden Apartment which is usually about 15 degrees cooler.
