Zoe: First rule of battle, little one. Don't ever let 'em know where you are. Mal: Whoo-hoo! I'm right here! I'm right here! You want some of me? Yeah, you do! Come on! Come on! Aaah! Whoo-hoo! Zoe: Of course, there are other schools of thought...

Compassionately intolerant

Oh, Shir. I'm so glad to see your pixels. Blessings for peace and personal security winging your way.

Todd is strong. She'll get through this, much like last time!

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Thank you for checking in, Shir. We know you are overwhelmed. Know we are holding you in our hearts in this mess. Stay safe.

What Laura said.

I'm glad you were able to check in and know there's a lot of love for you.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

So the thing is that I'm not overwhelmed specifically by this attack. It's normalized to the point where 2-3 hours after the fact it's ancient history. The terror attack in Jaffa, slightly before the Iranian attack, is scarier (7 dead). The only casutly we know of from tonight's Iranian attack - I swear I'm not making this up, this is just unbelievable script - is a Gazan who was in the West Bank and was hit by one of the rockets.

Very, very tired and sad from this war and wishing for its end and peace, but not overwhelmed.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I’m glad you’re safe, Shir. Hate that this is boiling over in all directions.

So, you know how I’ve been running around expediting passports and planning Matilda’s amazing trip to Europe - two weeks over London, Paris and Berlin?

She was all set to go on Saturday.

Today she came down with mono. Probably that big sleepover for her birthday.

Fucking germy teenagers! Viral vectors!

Whole trip has to be canceled.

I just feel so defeated. If I stop to think about it for two seconds I just want to beat my head in with a hammer.

Our wings are not tired.

Oh David, you put so much time, effort, and emotional and financial resources into this trip! I am sorry.

I'm a fucking amazing catch!--Fiona Gallagher, Shameless(US)

Not your fault. Some other time... (Not that I'm probably very consoling cause even at my age I say "Maybe next year," more than the Cubs. But it happens for somebody, right?) Glad about the Shir sighting. Need to respond to Nilly's New Year message.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Thanks for checking in and letting us know about Nilly, Shir.

I’m glad you’re doing ok, askye.

That sucks about Matilda’s trip.

Thrive to spite them

Oh no! poor Matilda and you David. That sucks.

We got power back this afternoon. Mom lost phone service this afternoon.

The traffic lights are working in town. There have been a few bad wrecks because of people not paying attention to traffic lights.

I've been following the FB page Mountain Mule Packer Ranch which is using their pack mules to get supplies to people and they are working with the Cajun Navy. [link]

There are so many organizations and smaller groups I had never heard of coming to help and coordinating. It's just amazing.

Unfortunately there are people on FB sharing pictures of food grocery stores have had to throw out because they are spoiled and getting mad it wasnt given away. And too many people agreeing with that. Because they don't know that food is bad if it's not refrigerated for multiple days I guess. Or they think grocery stores had magical abilities to keep food safe without power.

I'm not watching the debate. I'm enjoying the AC and getting rest for tomorrow ..I'm not looking forward to work and how crazy it will still be. At least I have Sat off.
