Oh man I just learned Shirley Chung has Stage 4 tongue cancer. She was on Top Chef and has been on several Food Network competitions and she is always bubbly and funny. She said she is doing chemo and treatments to try and get rid of the cancer and not lose her tongue.

I'm not familiar with her at all, but that must be pretty rough for a chef!
did not even know that could happen.
My brother had tonsil cancer (and is more than 5 years past it, yay!) so I fully believe that tongue cancer is a thing.
I’ve heard of tongue cancer, but mostly in people who were life long smokers, which seems unlikely for a chef. Since they have to be able to taste things accurately and all.
I've mostly heard it in reference to men who use chewing tobacco, but I guess cancer can randomly crop up in any organ without a clear reason for the location.
Last night was the first time political commentary has given me a feel-good belly laugh in, oh, about eight years: [link]
Matt, we watched Jon this morning, and he did not disappoint. We knew he would love the new material. He and Andy Borowitz make the election process bearable.
She's not the first chef with it. [link]
I was kind of wondering if maybe it was an occupational hazard. One would hope that all the things chefs are tasting are safe, but...
We are doing bathroom floor renovation, or "we" aren't but M's niece's step dad is. I just had to buy the materials and pay him (it needs to be done because there is a whole). We got the stuff and was putting it in the shed/old workshop and there I discover the fitted sheet I've been looking for. Covered in paint. Because M's mom decided to use it as a drop cloth. When I remarked on it she immediately said "It wasn't me! I didn't do it!" She's the only one who has been painting so yes it was her. I don't know why she immediately denies it and doesn't apologize. I know why she took it-she needed something, she saw that, she didn't own it, so she used it.
On the other hand the materials for the floor were much cheaper than I thought they would be. I just have to return the peel and stick tiles we decide not to use.
I really wish I had mom's desire to do DIY stuff because I would have had so many projects done.
