"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Happy Sunday! Happy last day of June! Happy Pride!

Matilda just got picked up by her friend Veronica to go to the Pride parade.

I managed to get her up at 8:15 which is a record for this summer, and got coffee and toasted baguette with butter and jam in her. Plus her meds.

It's a glorious blue sky day in San Francisco, and I just saw a hummingbird outside my window.

I'm going to head out to run shortly, then I need to Tend to Tasks, both housekeeping and paperwork.

Nothing too daunting though.

I've firmed up some visitor plans for late July and early August, and that pleases me.

I ran! I did the dishes!

I had a forbidden sandwich because it's still my birthday weekend and June, and it's my favorite sandwich.

It's sunny and bright and all the dogs are wearing rainbow bandanas.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Ugh, I woke up freezing this morning and naively shut the air off to change batteries in my wall thermostat, hoping that would get things running normally. Now I have no AC, though switching the fan from "auto" to "on" at least gets air circulating.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Aughh! Sorry Matt. No good!

Enjoy all those occasions today, David!

I had a glorious nap this afternoon and I'm not afraid to admit it!

Sometimes a nap is the best part of the day.

I went over to Alembic in the early evening and after a few drinks was ready to leave, but then an interesting couple came in with their cribbage board and I wound up talking to them for an hour while they played.

Now, I've had probably six conversations at Alembic which were deep and fun and connected with various couples and then I never see them again. Which is okay but there's always a vague promise that they'll see me again (and they did live locally). I wouldn't mind seeing them again, but I'm not bothered that I don't. It's just a curious dynamic.

Anyway, managed to catch Matilda between Pride events when I came home. She cleaned the Guinea Pig cage by herself which was past due. I had cleaned the kitchen earlier and took the garbage cans out, so I'm done for the night.

Tomorrow is July.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

You may remember “It was square and white and looked like a tooth, but it wasn’t a tooth, so I swallowed it” This feels…in the same series

So, back on May 22, my not-quite-yet-5-year-old abruptly lost his first tooth. We were In No Way Prepared for this situation. We put the tooth in a jar and fretted about current dental compensation rates.

On Tuesday June 11th (a holiday here), while waiting for the patients at the hospital to eat their breakfasts, I drafted a Tooth Fairy Program Welcome Letter and printed it out…and left it at work for a couple days.

So, he finally found the letter Saturday morning (sleeping arrangements have been weird due to the baby). And Saturday night, the tooth that had been loose all week was suddenly missing from his mouth…right after eating some cantaloupe. So, it was small and white and WAS a tooth…and he swallowed it.

Meanwhile, we had cast the well-known banishing spell called “We’ll just put this somewhere safe” on the first tooth.

So, he wrote the tooth fairy a letter (“I swallowed my tooth. It didn’t hurt.”) and left it for the Tooth Fairy, and was excited to receive a $2 bill the next morning.

Neither tooth has yet been found. Though, given that we have a cesspool, they’re likely BOTH still on the property.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Haunting the property. Ghost toofs.

Our wings are not tired.

Hugs to toofless boy and parents.

Waiting to see what misery SCOTUS has in store for us shortly. ... ... ...

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

I'm not sure what was going on (besides exhaustion), but I came home Thursday evening and slept almost 12 hours. Missed the debate, but probably didn't miss much. An hour and a half of vehement lies from what I've heard.

I've been getting gel/shellac manicures for the past month or so. I love them - they consistently look good for three-four weeks and my nails aren't breaking. However, they involve sticking my hand into a UV thing to "cure" the shellac and every time I stick my hand in, I want to start, "Fear is the mind-killer, fear is the little death" (haven't memorized the whole thing). I think it would startle the manicure lady. She just got back from Bolivia and I was relieved to see she was all right (they're having a coup).

DC was unbearably hot. Didn't even go out for food and drink but, with more reasonable temperatures, I'll make a foray tonight.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Gom jabbar manicures, I love it
