That condo sounds lovely, Hec.
My house/condo hunting will swing into full gear in August, when I’ll (hopefully) feel secure in my new job and my sister should be healed enough to check out potential places with me. I’m pretty sure I’ll be buying in either Port Huron or St. Clair Shores. The former is right at the base of Lake Huron and has enough of a geek/alternative community to support a good gaming shop, a witch shop, and an Edgar Allen Poe-themed coffee shop. And the houses are relatively cheap. Not much in the way of condos, though, and it’s a bluish dot in a red area. St. Clair Shores is (as one might expect) on Lake St. Clair—not one of the Great Lakes, but a perfectly respectable body of water, in its way. (Is my limnological snobbery showing? Yeah, probably.) The town itself is a tad ruddy, but it’s right above a very blue area, and has a number of reasonably priced brick bungalows. And it’s closer to family. It’ll probably come down to which city has an affordable house/condo that ticks my rather extensive list of boxes. I’ve been thinking about what I want in a home for about 30 years now. I have rather more in the way of opinions than budget.
