Natter 78: I might need to watch some Buffy for inspiration
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place.
Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Happy Birthday, David!
All sorts of ~ma for you and your kitty, Epic.
Glad the basement flooding wasn't worse, Gud.
Hope the show is as good as it sounds, Aurelia.
All my morning chores done, b'fast dishes washed and put away. Time for a nap!
So far the oscillating fan is doing a fair job. We haven't needed the AC yet. I've no doubt we eventually will, though. It's kind of unsettling walking through the house. The front windows soak up heat till midday, and the kitchen skylight--once you're past that the house temp drops ten or more degrees and the bedrooms are actually cool. Even need a blanket at night. People used to close off part of the house so they didn't have to heat it in winter. We have the opposite.
Sometimes I kinda forget that TV commercials are still a thing.
Football games are pretty much the only thing I watch on network TV. And we put the news channel on if there's a tornado warning or something, but they don't interrupt that with commercials (this typhoon brought to you by Captain D's!).
Apparently I’m too old for pride now or something. Went to the block party thing that the lesbian bar does tonight, and normally run into everyone you’ve ever met or dated or wanted to avoid or only see once a year there. And this year? I saw ONE person I knew. And I know a LOT of people!! No idea where everyone was. Super strange.
Timelies all!
Brought my car into the dealership to get the a/c looked at. While they were checking that, they found a bunch of other things that needed fixing.(Isn't that always the way?) Luckily, most of that was covered by the extended warranty, so the final bill was a bit under $800, not $3000+.
glad the warranty worked out for you.
Happy Sunday! Happy last day of June! Happy Pride!
Matilda just got picked up by her friend Veronica to go to the Pride parade.
I managed to get her up at 8:15 which is a record for this summer, and got coffee and toasted baguette with butter and jam in her. Plus her meds.
It's a glorious blue sky day in San Francisco, and I just saw a hummingbird outside my window.
I'm going to head out to run shortly, then I need to Tend to Tasks, both housekeeping and paperwork.
Nothing too daunting though.
I've firmed up some visitor plans for late July and early August, and that pleases me.
I ran! I did the dishes!
I had a forbidden sandwich because it's still my birthday weekend and June, and it's my favorite sandwich.
It's sunny and bright and all the dogs are wearing rainbow bandanas.
Ugh, I woke up freezing this morning and naively shut the air off to change batteries in my wall thermostat, hoping that would get things running normally. Now I have no AC, though switching the fan from "auto" to "on" at least gets air circulating.
Aughh! Sorry Matt. No good!
Enjoy all those occasions today, David!
I had a glorious nap this afternoon and I'm not afraid to admit it!

Sometimes a nap is the best part of the day.
I went over to Alembic in the early evening and after a few drinks was ready to leave, but then an interesting couple came in with their cribbage board and I wound up talking to them for an hour while they played.
Now, I've had probably six conversations at Alembic which were deep and fun and connected with various couples and then I never see them again. Which is okay but there's always a vague promise that they'll see me again (and they did live locally). I wouldn't mind seeing them again, but I'm not bothered that I don't. It's just a curious dynamic.
Anyway, managed to catch Matilda between Pride events when I came home. She cleaned the Guinea Pig cage by herself which was past due. I had cleaned the kitchen earlier and took the garbage cans out, so I'm done for the night.
Tomorrow is July.
