That which does not kill you should RUN

Wish me luck, everyone, I’m now on the no meloxicam (the daily pain killer I take) part of my pre knee replacement surgery journey.

My hip full of meloxicam is crying at the idea of no meloxicam, BUT:

Surgery is next Friday.

Good luck, knee!

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Good knee-ma, lisah!

Stay un-melty Jessica! Costa Rica and Adirondacks sounds delightful.

Happy birthday, sj!

San Francisco is getting up to 74 today. I may need a popsicle or some other icy treat. Alembic does always have a boozy slushy drink on their menu.

I'm meeting up with my friend Rachael (who is also my Pilates teacher) today to discuss how we are going to Change Her Life. I may steer her towards the boozy slurpee at Alembic for this.

Next week she will reciprocate in helping me to excavate my nerdhole in preparation for reclaiming it as a work space. (I'm getting a new desktop computer now that Apple has put out it's new Mac Studio.)

I miss feeling good about my country.

Sigh. Yes. And will I be around for 300? Doubtful. Will the US be around for 300? Also in question.

Wishing you "dealing without the drugs; fucking hell" ~ma and all the excellent procedure and smooth recovery ~ma for the replacement, lisah.

That sounds like a good kind of conversation & choice of drinks, David. Also, new computers are fun.

Woo hoo, going to urgent care for the second time in 6 days for a double ear infection. Crazy how such a tiny area can have such a giant pain. Do not like.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Greetings from inside the heat dome. We're having a string of days with the high temps in the high 90s/low 100s. Went out to pick up lunch, not planning to do anything else outside the house today.(Maybe go out for dinner, but that's it.)

All I remember about the Bicentennial is winning a Betsy Ross piggy bank in a reading contest.

"Somewhere in this building is our talent." Toby Ziegler, my spirit animal

(balls-out jealous of Hec's temps, sad living somewhere where 104F ever counts as a reprieve, but here in July it is.) horrible night last night living out a digestive nightmare, tentatively recovering, but it's been the WORST.

cereal To add: Happy birthday, sj and say hi to Jen the next time you see her. We kind of used to talk a lot, but it's been a while. We have the thread space now for those thoughts not to compete with my internal freakout.

I'd have given a working body part to have Bobby Junior's direct line at four AM to be, like, "Despite the big bowl, there's still vomit down my t-shirt and the very act of heaving? Tends to shake everything loose. Contrary to what people think, I don't get off on these *particular* gritty details, but what part of that job should Mom work as a freebie?(For the record, nobody else will ever do that, because I don't *have* in-laws, much less a whole cadre of women that can eat lunch professionally. Part of the reason Mom even started billing was because it offended her sensiblities to think that Arizona should get out of weekend care cause we hung out. It was lucky she did because we both needed the lifeline eventually. His father would be so horrified.

He would indeed be appalled. Sorry you had such an awful night, erika.
