You are always welcome to visit me in Otter Lake, Jen! I expect it will cool down some. This is very unusual.
I am so disheartened by the 250 drama and bullshit. 1976 was amazing. I was 22 and partied with an amazing group of friends at a huge party at a river front house that a bunch of them rented in Norfolk. Big VA home with huge balconies. Everyone everywhere was in a state of all out Bicentennial fervor. All ages, all political views, it was just joyous. Everyone sporting their red, white, and blue. We were past Watergate and Vietnam and ready to party.
This could have been a joyous time. And yet.
Thank you, Laura!
Yep, I remeber the Bicentennial year so well -- I feel like I was constantly dressed in an old-timey costume and bonnet for school, though it was probably way less than I remember, ha.

Same!!!
Happy birthday, sj! Hope you have a fun day.
Wish me luck, everyone, I’m now on the no meloxicam (the daily pain killer I take) part of my pre knee replacement surgery journey. Surgery is next Friday.
Much ~ma your way lisah!

Being a 22 year old hippie living in the south at the time I was in flag designed short short jeans and tank tops at the time. It was all go US clothing all around. I miss feeling good about my country.

My hip full of meloxicam is crying at the idea of no meloxicam, BUT:
Surgery is next Friday.
Good luck, knee!
Good knee-ma, lisah!
Stay un-melty Jessica! Costa Rica and Adirondacks sounds delightful.
Happy birthday, sj!
San Francisco is getting up to 74 today. I may need a popsicle or some other icy treat. Alembic does always have a boozy slushy drink on their menu.
I'm meeting up with my friend Rachael (who is also my Pilates teacher) today to discuss how we are going to Change Her Life. I may steer her towards the boozy slurpee at Alembic for this.
Next week she will reciprocate in helping me to excavate my nerdhole in preparation for reclaiming it as a work space. (I'm getting a new desktop computer now that Apple has put out it's new Mac Studio.)
I miss feeling good about my country.
Sigh. Yes. And will I be around for 300? Doubtful. Will the US be around for 300? Also in question.
Wishing you "dealing without the drugs; fucking hell" ~ma and all the excellent procedure and smooth recovery ~ma for the replacement, lisah.
That sounds like a good kind of conversation & choice of drinks, David. Also, new computers are fun.
Woo hoo, going to urgent care for the second time in 6 days for a double ear infection. Crazy how such a tiny area can have such a giant pain. Do not like.
