Zoe: I thought you wanted to spend more time off-ship this visit. Wash: Out there is seems like it's all fancy parties. I like our party better. The dress code is easier and I know all the steps.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Made everything taste like soap for several weeks.

His taste buds are already wonky from the radiation, although he is starting to get some tastes back. It would suck if it all turned to soap taste. Blech.

I had a pretty normal day and got a lot of shit done. Fun fact -- it was in the 80s yesterday, and today it snowed, stuck to the ground, then melted, all in the span of about six hours.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I have a cold so I called in sick to work and spent the day dozing, reading, coughing, and blowing my nose. I feel like if I could find the right soup it would fix me but (a) that is probably not really true and (b) I would have to put on clothes and deal with people to acquire any soup (finished what I had in the pantry this afternoon) and so far that has been too much in the way of obstacles.

I adore all you motherfuckers so much -- PMM.

Also, I remember how much I hated the twinkly eye Michael Douglas poster for Wonder Boys, but when I actually watched it I really enjoyed that movie.

Michael Douglas usually gives me the screaming fantods, but what I remember about Wonder Boys is the absolutely criminal underuse of Katie Holmes, who managed to steal a scene with just one line: "Grady, have you edited this /at all/?" The chemistry between Tobey MacGuire and RDJ at the end was cute, but pretty much nothing else about the movie stuck in my memory, even though it was filmed in Pittsburgh not far from where I once lived.

80s to snow is wacky!!

Went to trivia tonight, and we won! Sadly the prize was only a $20 gift card, which would cover maybe two beers? We ended up with two teams of people because there were 9 of us. One team came in last and one came in first, I guess we should’ve split up differently!

Teppy that sounds like a day that needs a do-over.

You have to remember that being a 5-time Olympic medalist means Hilary Knight has been playing hockey at an elite level at least 16 years. It's impossible for her to be a teenage girl less than 16 years old, thus the President's complete lack of interest.

My day yesterday was unremarkable except for my after-work alley cat visit. Jojo was curled up in the shelter I bought for her when I arrived, so I have confirmation that it's serving its purpose and keeping her cozy & warm!

Thrive to spite them

I haven't had anything remarkable happen. I did finally go to the Dr about my knee and have an anti inflammatory to take and I'm using heat in the morning and ice in the evening. This is in a bid to avoid physical therapy. I don't mind physical therapy but I do mind getting up to do it before work and paying $150/week if I have to go twice a week.

So the idea is to see if the conservative approach works and if it doesn't go from there.

I also need to call the vet about Penny and her thyroid medicine. I have been lax about giving it to her because she fights me or she spits out the pill and I can't grind it up in food. I tried the pill pocket...she spit it out. I tried giving her part of a squeeze treat and then the pill and then the squeeze treat she would run . So I'm going to see about tht topical medicine.

Sunday after work I'm going up to see Mom and gave my dentist appointment Monday.

And I'm going to be shifting my sleep schedule to see if I can handle getting to work at 7 so I can move my hours from 9-6 to 7-4. I could get more work done without customer interruptions but also there are things I keep seeing I want to do that are at 5 or 6.

Thrive to spite them

Well we have had some incidents at work. A few days ago the overnight team lead let some stranger in the building because she said she needs to use the restroom. And then didn't pay attention to anything the stranger was doing.

Then yesterday I went to use the restroom and turned the corner to find a man standing in the women's room pissing into the floor drain. Did I immediately go get a manager? No. My reaction was to say "No! Nope. No.you can not do that you need to go use the urinal in the men's room. ". He didn't seem to speak English. Had he been in the stall I wouldn't have had less of a reaction.

And then this morning when one of the overnight people was taking their last break this morning a man drove his car up next to her. Got out and got he to roll down her window a little bit and then told her she was beautiful and he had been watching her for awhile (!!) and then asked her for sex. I'm not sure exactly how she handled it. I would have been calling 911 and/or honking my horn.

"already on the kiss-cam with Karl Marx"-

I thought Wonder Boys was good, but the book was funnier.

"The thing about dorks is we stick together. Mostly for gaming purposes but also because it wards off jocks, gutter clowns and other Stephen King-like threats." - Lauren Okie

askye, all of that sounds alarming.

Yesterday I had an unplanned dental appointment. My hygienist is winding down her hours, so I have to make the jump to a different hygienist. This one is much gentler but also not chatty at all. One of the things no one tells you about aging is how your own care providers retire and suddenly you have to figure out new people and new systems.
