I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Now that would be the perfect storm.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

This week in the MidEast: an original idea for a washing machine ad [link] (to clarify: real picture, and everyone in the comments is now recommending this brand).

Rumors that there will be lots of bombings tonight, I'm considering to sleep on the torture device sofa in the safe room.

Severe weather is letting me down, man. My backyard is currently a swamp from the rain, but tornadoes are not showing up to do their job.

Damn lazy tornados. Take one girl to Oz and think they can rest on their laurels just doing whatever they want

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Well, it's been a week. Mr. S has been having a lot of emotional dysregulation, culminating with Gary taking him to Childrens' Hospital on Monday night. It has been determined he should be admitted to a behavioral unit, but they are still working on finding him a bed in one. Sigh...it hasn't even been two months since he was discharged from the RTC.

In different news, I did buy a new desk chair on Sunday.

Our wings are not tired.

That is so discouraging, Sheryl. I do hope that they find him room and that they have a better results with their therapy.

In different news, I did buy a new desk chair on Sunday.

This reminds me to share "OMG he might be fully functional one day" news on my eldest. My SIL finally moved out so my son moved from the Florida room into the main house. I thought he might set up his computer systems in one room and his bedroom in another, but he opted to have everything in the bedroom. So the boys have all of their stuff in the 2 bedrooms, and the living room, den, and FL room are completely empty. I suggested they make one of the rooms a game room.

Anyway, I went over to help him get situated since he isn't so great at that. I washed his sheets, but he moved all his stuff into his room. I went back the next day to discuss selecting an internet provider, since he would be using a hotspot until that happened. He had already called and ordered it, and the equipment was on the way. By himself! Then I asked him about the chair that he had been using at his computer, since it was still downstairs. He showed me he had gone to Walmart, bought an office chair, put it together, AND bought a laundry basket for himself. (Previously just tossed clothes in the corner) Now, all of this may not sound like amazing accomplishments for a 34-year-old, but for him, it really is awesome. My sister laughed and said it was a good thing she was sitting down when I told her.

He is so brilliant, but with day-to-day adulting stuff, he is still a work in progress. But, baby steps!

Our wings are not tired.

Oh my, crickets for 12 hours. I hope everyone had good things keeping them busy today.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Oh my, crickets for 12 hours. I hope everyone had good things keeping them busy today.

I had a facial! And since I was in Japantown I picked up my favorite curry, and also went by the cafe that makes its own shortbread and got their delicious lemon/lavender shortbread.

I'm looking for a new show and I'm tempted to try Rooster, just because it's set on a college that's small and old like my alma mater. Also, it stars Steve Carrell.

I'm not very drawn to middle aged white guy leads, right now, but I'd make an exception for him.

Also, I remember how much I hated the twinkly eye Michael Douglas poster for Wonder Boys, but when I actually watched it I really enjoyed that movie.

Tomorrow I have brunch plans with my friend, Katt, that quit the comic book shop, as I try to finesse that parasocial relationship into a friendship. I mean, I've talked to her about once a week, for at least an hour for more than 5 years, including using her as a regular venting ear during JZ's treatment. So, there's a basis there.

So far I was able to do that with my Pilates instructor, Rachael, so it would be good to add a new friend.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

In the span of one hour: (1) Tim was like "Is this white stuff on my tongue thrush?" (probably yes, and since his mouth is where he had radiation, he needs to let the oncologist know ASAP), (2) my dad called and was like "I think I have a UTI again," (there's no way his PCP will have an opening tomorrow, so I found the urgent care that's part of the health care system his PCP is in, so if he goes there, they can access his records), (3) my brother texted me and was like "Dad just called me. You didn't prepare me for that." (I assumed that Dad called him to tell him about the UTI, so I asked, "Did he say 'penis'?" My brother replied, "Scrotum."), and (4) while my brother was texting me, the cat barfed up his dinner.

Everyone stop doing things! Or, at least, stop involving me in your things! That means you, Murderbiscuit!

[edit] David, your day was MUCH better than mine! No UTI details and no cat barf.
