Not that I don't always feel that there is something better to do than self-care for the factory second.

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Hiya. Just to say I'm alright. Tired, but alright.
Thank you for checking in, Shir. You and yours are on my mind.
Kat did you expect a younger crowd for Brandi Carlyle? I guess I assume her fans are all middle aged lesbians because that’s who I know…
Poking my head (sorry for disturbing ongoing conversations!) in order to let you know that we're as fine as possible in such strange and taken-from-a-history-book-how-can-this-be-real circumstances.
We don't trust the almost-safe room we have at home, so we go the two-minutes walk to a nearby shelter whenever there's a "soon there may be an alarm in your area".
I take the current pile of exams I'm grading (and the hard drive that contains all our backups and pictures), PiBoy makes sure he takes at least one of his Rubik's cubes, Pi+Girl brings the book she's currently reading (and then is just with her phone, but at least she takes her book along), and the DH prepared a whole bag of stuff for the possibility of a long stay there, so he grabs that when getting out of the door.
It's this strange routine that when looking at it from the outside is completely unbelievable, but when you just live it is just that, some strange routine.
Today was supposed to be one of the only days of the year in which kids are actually happy to go to school, right before the holiday of Purim, with costumes and candy and the like (think Halloween, without the scary bits), and there's a lot of uncertainty as to how the holiday itself will be celebrated, starting from tomorrow evening and for Tuesday and for some places also on Wednesday.
Another game of fate is that this certain holiday, Purim, is im memory of a story that took place is the place where current Iran is (and the only one ragarding that place), so obviously there are plenty of jokes regarding that (warning Egypt when Passover comes next month and the like).
Sorry, I'm rambling. I should get back to grading. I can't imagine how scary this may seem from afar, and it is quite stressful here as well, but in a strange maintaining some-sort-of-everyday-life way to it. And we're fine.
Then again, I felt the need to update y'all that we are indeed fine, so apparently not entirely routine.
Take care, everybody. You're all constantly in my thoughts and prayers.
same here, nilly. The phonebank I was supposed to do was about talking to white Americans about the mIddle east. I feel guilty about missing it.
Nilly, you and your family are in my thoughts. Sending you all love.
{{hugs to Nilly and Shir}}
I went to a protest in SF yesterday. it was pretty small, and I was reminded of the anti-war protests before we went to war in Iraq, when there were millions of people on the street and it didn't make even a little difference.
But one does what one can.
In other news I had a nice hike in the redwoods with my sister & BIL and the dogs, and so far as I can tell, the Tornado didn't pick up any ticks. Yay for that.
Now I have to go buy groceries and prep for dog class and then it's back to the work week, sigh.
Thank you for checking in, Nilly. It is so much to comprehend all of the life disruptions, ranging from people dying to missing school and holidays like Purim. The insanity of the powers that be is affecting every aspect of people's lives.
I know lots of movement people that got their starts from those, Consuela. But yeah, you didn't get an immediate effect from that, but that is how PDA became a thing, for one.
