Our wings are not tired.

I'm sorry, meara. I hope your friend responds well to treatment.

The painting is just beautiful, David. Has Matilda seen it?

We have been burning the candle at multiple ends lately. Having my MIL here has been exhausting, but manageable. Mostly non-stop meal prep and dishes. She sleeps on the couch, so I make up and break down the bedding daily. She is getting around better and can do much on her own, but is very noncompliant with PT. Also, she listens to reels on her phone at a loud volume. And of course, believes everything she sees is real. We have explained to her that most of what she is watching is AI-generated or otherwise fake. Crap like multiple times reports of Mom Guthrie being found, or suspects arrested. Sigh. DH has been renovating both of her bathrooms, handling basketball, and preparing yearly reports for all our doctors. He is exhausted.

So... I planned myself a weekend birthday escape! Saturday night, a friend's band is playing at a hotel in Boca Raton. The guitar player and his wife live in my building, and she is in my book club. They are a Dead tribute band, as well as other rock of that genre. Anyway, old hippie friends of my age. I went ahead and booked a small balcony suite at the hotel so we can spend the afternoon by the pool and at the spa, partake of drinks from the poolside bar, have dinner, watch the band perform, then just go upstairs and crash without having to drive home. Pretend I am on vacation and not just 10 miles from home. My SIL is picking up MIL to take her to her house Saturday night, and my son is coming over to stay here and take care of the dog.

Of course, I have not told Brendon any of this, except that he is mine from midday Saturday to midday Sunday.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Oh, fun plans, Laura! Hooray for a little escape

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

The painting is just beautiful, David. Has Matilda seen it?

She has! She loves it and is particularly blown away by the details, like the pattern of her dress.

They are a Dead tribute band

"Alas, earwax."

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Had a few days of quiet here, as Gary went to the Builders show for work and Mr. S stayed with the nanny. Now they're both back and its chaos.

I have that, it’s great! I’m just concerned about the Audible books I already own (since what I actually own is the license not the book, or whatever) And the occasional Audible Original that isn’t available anywhere else.

Our wings are not tired.

Today we celebrate the lovely Beverly's birthday! I hope that your day is filled with love and treats, and that this year brings all you wish for and more.

You have to remember that being a 5-time Olympic medalist means Hilary Knight has been playing hockey at an elite level at least 16 years. It's impossible for her to be a teenage girl less than 16 years old, thus the President's complete lack of interest.

Happy Birthday Beverly!

I have done battle with the evil copier/printer at my company's largely-abandoned physical office, and after an inconclusive physical struggle outwitted it by printing pages 2-up on one tabloid sheet at a time, thus lulling its phantom misfeed alarm into uneasy slumber! 2026 tax filings now saved and stored in hard copy form to ward off future audits.

They pay me in WOIMS

I’m looking forward to not being constantly earwormed by a certain Kate Bush song, perhaps in a few months or so.

Ha, I feel lucky that that is one I didn't obsessively listen to over and over back in the day so while I am reminded of it all the time I don't get it stuck in my head. I never read the book so all the discourse just flows through me like fear past the Kwisatz Haderach. Only I remain.

Happy birthday BevDog!
