It’s not even 10am and I feel inundated with questions that I have no answers for. So many COVID policy questions and NO WRITTEN POLICIES!!! And no one wants to step up snd make some gd decisions!!!
'The Cautionary Tale of Numero Cinco'
Natter 77: I miss my friends. I miss my enemies. I miss the people I talked to every day.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
To brighten your day, there's this - young man trying recipes from the past. Many are horrible, a couple are good. It's his commentary and reactions that make them worth watching.
I see that, and raise you: [link]
One of the professors at my college had written a book of ancient Roman recipes. A lot of them seemed to include garum (spelling?) which seems to be like the fish sauce used in some ... Vietnamese? ... recipes.
Ha! Love the date cream guy.
The food history thing looks kinda cool. I'm saving that.
The date cream guy is for humor ... the historical cooking guy seems to be pretty informative and, while amusing, less flat-out funny.
For funny, here's a video on how one law got made.
Glad Youtube is taking down the anti vaccine stuff. I hope it's for all anti vax stuff and not just Covid anti vax.
I was supposed to go in at 8:30 am today but yesterday I got a text asking me to come in at 6 so I did. And it was kind of a.. not a shit show exactly but totally unorganized with new procedures, changed schedules, etc. I hope tomorrow will be better. Tomorrow I get off at 3 again and I'm going to come home, get some stuff, change, and then go and see Mom/spend the night/spend Friday with her. So I'm really happy. I haven't seen her in a few weeks.
The "good" news at work is that open enrollment is starting soon and our premiums aren't going to go up. I mean it is good news but it's not like, our deductible is going down or something. The HR manager made a point of saying that the premiums are actually going up but the company is absorbing the extra cost. So that is good. Especially since we had a whole bankruptcy/restructuring thing
Tomorrow is the day we are supposed to have information out about the vaccine mandate and testing, but we are not having a meeting to go over it until Friday. I expect it to be a shit show of phone calls and emails tomorrow.
Timelies all!
Mr. S had another meltdown at school, complete with knocking over tables. I had to go pick him up, as Gary was in the office and he couldn't reach the nanny.(She was at our house when I got there with Mr. S, though it was already 2 so I didn't go back to work)He's been out of control a lot in the evening. He's got an appointment with the child psychiatrist tomorrow, so we'll see if meds need adjusting.
I am in another nightmare of epic proportions about COVID-19 vaccinations for students on incomplete contracts who show up on no report as current having to have submitted proof of vaccination by 11:59 last night. Even though I anticipated this, liaised with the Registrar etc, so had collected almost everything already. They are freaking out because the Canadian students don’t have CDC cards, UHS still has no mechanism for them to submit anything, nor do they care, our Dean is fit to be tied because we are not 100% compliant. I spent today calling people to tell them they had to cease and desist their clinical hours for being non compliant even though they can’t become compliant because there is no mechanism. UHS is adamant they will not collect these, but the Dean is both insisting we do and saying I shouldn’t be collecting them myself, they need to upload things to the UHS system. Seriously.
