PG&E already sent me an email saying they’ll have people working on our power outage in half an hour. Nice!

Blood draw this morning did not go smoothly. IV in the elbow would allow input, but not outflow. Tried draw fron the back of one hand, flow was very slow, managed two tubes. Back of the other hand, same. Gonna have three nice big bruises, sigh.
CT with contrast went okay. Now to wait two more hours while the radiotracer soaks my bones, then I have 40 minutes of lying motionless in the scanner.
Onc evaluation and consult Monday morning.
Laura, get your 'flu shot!
Sorry about the difficult blood draws, dcp. Not fun. ~ma that the scans show good progress.
Power~ma, -t.
He has also needed hernia surgery for 6 years and the surgeon won't do it until he loses weight.
As you might imagine, this caught my eye. If I hadn't put off hernia surgery for years for the exact same reason, well, I don't think I'd have had the same, uh, issues I did, and I wouldn't have short bowlel syndrome now... and I would not wish THAT on anyone, especially your DH. If horror stories were inspirational, I'd be happy to share mine.
I am also having a live and let live, for the most part, conflict in my mind with my DP. He smokes (I used to, no judgement), and I am concerned as it is obvs not great health wise, but also because he has additional health issues that just get exacerbated. He doesn't smoke in the house, though he does in the car, so it's not REALLY a stink or second hand smoke issue, though... maybe a little. But I do worry about it.
I had flu in 1998, and I still remember how miserable I felt. For days, all I could do was lie on the couch, and I was still wobbly a couple of weeks later. So yeah, I think flu shot this weekend.
It is really hard to see loved ones damaging their health, and yet adults get to make their own decisions. The surgeon says it would be a waste of his time to do the surgery because he would just rip it out. Also, I can't imagine how difficult the recovery would be. He would have to be in rehab because even with my sons we wouldn't be able to get him up and down, and with belly surgery he wouldn't be able to on his own. I have mentioned (more than once) that he would be better off with scheduled surgery than the emergency variety.
My sister is going to be getting her flu shot soon so I may just go with her. Of course, I am of an age where they want you to get pneumonia vaccine too. I have used the same never had respiratory issues of any kind mindset on that, but that is a one and done like shingles.
I feel like this is so early in the year to be getting flu shots! But I guess I’ll get on that.
Dco that sucks—I’ve totally had that happen though where they end up using both hands for blood draws, and it’s the worst.
Yeah, I get it, Laura. I just meant as motivation for weight loss... I couldn't have gotten it at my previous weight for the same reason; it likely wouldn't have held. But fear is not an especially great motivator? Because I didn't lose the weight either.
I just told DP that I'm getting flu shot this weekend, and he's down.
Oh, and, -t, I got my shingles shots at CVS.
