Natter 77: I miss my friends. I miss my enemies. I miss the people I talked to every day.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Timelies all!
Yeah, I hope that vaccines for the under-12 group will be available soon so Mr. S can get the shots. Not just for his health, but also so we can do more things as a family. There are 3 cons we have been regulars at that are happening in person this fall, but all are requiring proof of vaccination. WorldCon is following the same rules. We can't do any of them unless we got someone to watch Mr. S for the weekend, which is unlikely.
I'm so sorry, lisah, that's just awful.
I hope the med increase helps, askye.
And I don't think I said it in the box here, but no cancer -ma for Pix.
I talked to Mom today about her trip to Florida, she doesn't want to go but she needs to because my aunt is struggling with everything and there's lots of things that need to be done. Also my cousin's son is going to start counseling through a program with the county where the counselor comes to the school, that's one good thing. Bad thing is in 4 weeks of school he's missed 6 days.
Also Mom has to talk to him about rehoming all or some of the dogs, my aunt just can't take care of them and according to her they are all sick.
The worst news is that my cousin is in the hospital. The rehab place he is at hasn't been taking care of him and he was admitted with a severe kidney infection. The doctor said it was obvious his catheter wasn't taken care of like it should have been. The fact that he has a kidney infection from this means they really weren't monitoring him well. The hospital isn't on lock down like the rehab place is so the adults can go see him. Which is good. His fiancee is going to try and make sure he doesn't get sent back to that rehab facility but without insurance his options are limited.
Oh, askye, that's so rough.
Oof, what a tough situation for all of you!
Oh, askye, that's awful. How frustrating for your family, for your cousin to be truly improving and then end up back int he hospital with something both serious and 100% preventable if the people who'd been caring for him had done their jobs.
The wailing, sobbing dog from yesterday has either gone away with its humans or is being kept inside and given the cosseting it deserves. Poor baby; it was hours upon hours of heartbroken despair.
My cousin is fully aware of what is going on too. So he is in pain and being mistreated and it's horrid and it makes me worry about the other people who are there.
Poor doggo. I hope they are taking better care of him.
I think I've figured out what is going on with Scrappy the Cat and his scabs/"scrapes" on his face/chin, we just have to get him back to the vet. I think he has miliary Dermatitis ...so he might have a flea allergy.
One of my coworkers has been really sick with Covid for the past week. She's vaccinated, but she caught it from her elementary-age kids, who caught it at school. She sounds totally miserable.
Oh, askye, my heart goes out to your cousin and everyone who lives him. That is terrible.
{{lisah and Bob}} It is so tragic. The past year has been particularly horrible for people with mental health issues.
As I look at all the adorable pictures of kids on their first day of school I both worry with the knowledge that this is going to get worse, and am relieved that mine aren't in school. And whoa are the school districts not all the same. Full range of virus cesspools to well-thought-out mandates and policies.
How awful for your cousin. I hope that something can be done to improve his care.
DH is headed back to Florida today when he gets up. He couldn't sleep all night thinking about this, that, and the other thing that needed to be done. The man just doesn't have a relaxed mode. That said, I am looking forward to clearing the debris field that surrounds him. Stuff everywhere that isn't where it should be!
