I'm sorry for your sister's family, Cass. Glad they are safe, but needing to evacuate is pretty rough all on it's own.
Do You Qualify For $8.7 Billion Of Student Loan Forgiveness?
Signs point to no. Presumably some forbearance or temporary relief has expired that I forgot about. Fortunately I was super frugal all August and can pay the extra without too much difficulty but as an ongoing expense this is gonna suck. I would really like for "Payday" to not be "Pay bills and cry day"
The COVID student loan payment freeze ends at the end of January. I need to update my IBR info. Just 5 more years till my PSLF.
My family never had vacation homes (unless you count one uncle's cabin at Lake Norfork that was like something out of an Evil Dead movie, so no fond memories there!) But I am glad that my grandmother's old house is being fixed up by the current residents. That's the home I'm nostalgic about more than any of the ones I ever lived in, so it's nice to think that new generations of kids will have a chance to climb its trees and wonder what the cistern is for.
Timelies all!
Mr. S went back to school today. He was excited to go, which is nice.
Sheryl, I hope Mr S has a wonderful school year.
ltc met her kindergarten teacher today, and her first full day of school is tomorrow. I'm interested to see how she handles a 6+ hour day for the first time.
Love hearing about the kiddos going back to school. May Mr. S and ltc have wonderful years, and their parents too!
Exciting night in Otter Lake. We were sitting watching tv when my sister and DH noticed cars crawling down the main road with lights flashing and noticed a guy carrying a sign. We of course thought it was some crazy band of Trumpsters, this being our country. This morning I see a neighbor post that her ostrich got loose and it was a rescue and walk back home. I think the video is public. [link]
Life in Otter Lake.
An ostrich!
Hi -- I realize I haven't posted anything in a while, but I've been reading along!
Ha!
My grandparents and aunt's family had summer houses on the Jersey Shore, so I got rather a lot of Kid Paradise back in the day. Both houses have been destroyed, so there's no going back.
Came across this tale of a traveler's recent experience with Covid-19.
The article is informative and infuriating and saddening and fuels my cynicism about people and protocols and privilege: [link]
Very interesting, dcp. Thanks.
