I am looking at Matilda's Bell Schedule for the coming school year and I've never felt so happy about a school district PDF.
She has orientation on this Monday, and starts school Aug 16th. Also she works all the way to the previous Friday on the 13th.
She's going to be back in school after 17 months.
I'm a little nervous about school here in Missouri. The Delta variant seems to affect children more or at least makes them more efficient carriers, and the state is rife with COVID.
Meanwhile, the GOP just makes me angry. [link]
Why can't a disease just be a common enemy? There are so many other things to be divided about.
Two weeks into the new job and things seem to be going well. I'm still in the period where doing development tickets is extra difficult because I don't know the code, but I feel like I'm starting to contribute. After having a really bad experience with a new job a couple of jobs ago, my stress level has been super high, but the longer I don't have a bad experience the better it's getting.
It's still weird to think that I'm in the gaming industry now. It just doesn't seem like something one does as a coder in the midwest.

Once they authorize the vax for younger children we can really start to close this off.
There was an interesting NYT explainer about how the Delta variant seems to surge at high speed and then peter out. That's what happened in India and some localities stateside. They don't know why, but it's encouraging.
Delta's a concern because it's so much more transmissible, but it's not more deadly. The big issue is to get everybody vaxxed before we get a more lethal mutation going.
I just read an article about a new Pfizwr study with not super encouraging news about how long it stays at peak efficiency. [link]
Time to approve boosters, perhaps?
Time to approve boosters, perhaps?
Looks like they're leaning that way, but I'm not super concerned as it's basically like getting your annual flu shot.
Timelies all!
Just got an email saying that Mr. S's camp will be cancelled next week. It was supposed to be the last week of camp, but the kid testing positive ended that. Meanwhile, Gary brought Mr. S to the pediatrician for a COVID test, even though they didn't think that was what he has.
Yeah, ,I'm down with it; I'd just like them to approve it... so I can sign up!
