Well, we may not have parted on the best of terms. I realize certain words were exchanged. Also, certain... bullets. But that's air through the engine. It's past. We're business people.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Empress, it is such a relief to see your pixels. Here's to a little better each day.

Its no surprise that E has grown up to be so brave and strong, but it is wonderful to see.

I'm trying to figure out what makes sense for our Planet Fitness. It's huge, well ventilated, they have two "off" treadmills between every working one, and it's never crowded, but... working out with a mask on seems not ideal. Inconvenience is better than disease, though.

Honestly, if it weren't so freaking hot no matter what time of day, I'd just do my Zombie Run training outside and probably back off on weights for the time being. Maybe add a Zoom yoga. Ergh. I dunno.

It's the first time in my life I've ever been consistent with exercise, and, you know, at this point it's about staying mobile as I age more than anything else, so... will figure it out. Also, DP is exercising, too, and I don't want him to lose his momentum either as it is doing him just as much good.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

We had an outage in a server in our distribution center which apparently has brought shipping to a complete standstill and also is preventing us from importing new orders, so I am twiddling my thumbs waiting for that to get fixed. It's kind of relaxing, although ominous for probably needing to work late once things are moving again

To rephrase Dorothy Parker, "all your life you wait around for some d@mn machine".

A local museum gift shop used to sell (might still, I haven't been there for a while) a martini glass with a quote from Ms. Parker: "I'll have one martini, two at the most, three and I'm under the table, three and I'm under the host".

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I'm slightly paranoid, so when I started reading about how the Delta variant is hitting Israel, which has a higher vaccination rate than the US, I bought a box of KN95s. I feel like maybe I should buy more. I don't think cloth masks are going to cut it with this Delta variant.

My mask-making neighbor has ordered us all a bunch of KN95s and is starting up her cloth mask making again because a) we'll be wearing them for a while and b) she figures we need new colors/patterns since we've been wearing the others long enough to be bored with them. Which is its own source of sadness. Still, it's nice to get a face-wardrobe refresh.

A while ago I saw a story from a man whose mother was using a town building (town hall, I think) to make masks. She was interrupted when a bunch of anti-maskers came in and harassed her. His response:

Look. It’s very simple. People with sewing machines are not to be messed with. They spend all day sticking their fingers in metal contraptions connected to the electrical outlets, their fingernails always dangerously close to a giant NEEDLE going stabbity stabbity stabbity. Do you KNOW how much energy it takes to make a dress from a frickin’ PATTERN when Old Navy exists? And you want to turn your Big QAnon Energy on those people? Really? … Crafters and makers are universally organized, energetic, and creative. Is that really who you want to be screwing with right now? You piss off the legions of people who buy yarn in bulk and they will END you.
