I am feeling stressed the fuck out. The house we are trying to buy may fall though. The person buying our house is Muslim and can’t pay interest and thus can’t do a mortgage. He is paying it off in four cash payments, one a month. Well, this has the mortgage company completely flummoxed. We are technically still owners of this house until all the payments come in so we don’t qualify for a mortgage, even though we WILL be paying off the mortgage within eight weeks when the second payment comes in. We paid 10k earnest money and will lose that if we don’t close by Friday. We are trying to find out a type of purchase agreement which will satisfy the buyer, the underwriter and the various real estate types involved before Wednesday, so the checks will go though in time to close, so we don’t lose the money.
Not only that, my latest mammogram on Tuesday showed “something,” so I have to go in and have more tests. I got a call from the mammogram doctor and my doctor about this, both saying it’s probably nothing but I should go in for further tests RIGHT AWAY. I know it’s probably nothing, but since my mom had breast cancer, it’s still a worry.
So that’s where I’m at today.
That's a lot, Scrappy. Lots of love as you navigate it all.
Shit, that's a lot to deal with. Good outcome -ma to you for all if it.
Scrappy, are you working with a realtor, and can you ask them to communicate with the buyer's realtor about working with an Islamic-compliant finance company? This article is from 2007, but might it give you some ideas?
Gah, the ever-unnerving "Hey, can you rush right over and get this thing that's probably nothing checked out yesterday?" call. I'm sorry. I'll hold my thumbs for you.
Oh Scrappy, that is a whole lot. Sending much love and resolution~ma.
Damn, Scrappy. That's plenty to be anxious about.
I'm, uh, having fun dealing with different levels of risk tolerance while visiting my family. There's a bonfire tonight where a lot of people have said they are coming, and some of these people are anti-vaxxers. I'm not comfortable spending any time with grown ass adults who are anti-vaxxers, but if there are thunderstorms and we need to go inside, I definitely don't feel comfortable being indoors with these people. Not that it matters much if the rest of my family are indoors with them unmasked.
It's easier for me because I don't live here, but I'm way more comfortable than my family being the only one wearing a mask in indoor public places and being blunt about not wanting to have certain kinds of people in my life. I just scheduled a COVID-19 test for the Monday after I get back, because Jesus Christ.
Timelies all!
