Natter 77: I miss my friends. I miss my enemies. I miss the people I talked to every day.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
My cold symptoms have mostly gotten better, though there's a little congestion lingering. Husband has progressed to ugly hacking, so I've convinced him that he needs to be tested today.
I know, statistically, it's unlikely to be covid. But I swear to god, if it's covid, I'll...be very mad online.
Healing~ma for the both of you, Dana
oof! it's Monday and the office has officially re-opened. And, again, there are PEOPLE around. They're engaging in an office-wide scavenger hunt, since people took their monitors, keyboards, etc., home and didn't bring them back. I reminded the appropriate people that we have a box of cords and cables locked in our server room, which may help.
In other news, we have a new single-cup coffee brewer. I was going to give it a try but couldn't figure it out, even with the explanation (which was, of course, less than clear) and couldn't figure out how to get the packets out of the contraption they're connected to.
In re unvaccinated nurses - I saw that one hospital that fired nurses who refused to be vaccinated is being sued by those nurses. um ... I think it's in Texas, where they can fire you for just about anything. sigh ....
I don't get the nurses who are anti Vax either. The team manager who is kind of anti Vax & anti mask did get the vaccine. I think so she didn't have to wear a mask. She claims that that disposable medical masks cause respiratory problems and her daughter, who is a nurse, developed breathing problems after wearing masks as a nurse.
At lunch one day a couple of people were talking about vaccines being magnetic and how one person was told by her nurse that they tried it at work and every person who had either Moderna or Pfizer shot had the magnet stick and the ones who weren't vaccinated didn't.
I tried to say that there wasn't anything that could make it magentic but that there are other reasons why a magnet might stick to skin.
Both women who were saying this are vaccinated but according to one "it makes you wonder". I do wonder but about why people believe stuff like that.
.
Healing~ma, Dana and DH!
Yes, people continue to be idiots about the vaccine, including too many in my family. My 11 year old nephew spouted the "more people get struck by lightning than die of Covid" nonsense yesterday, but of course my sister and I shut him down on that. He wears his mask anytime he is in public since he can't get his vaccine yet, and can't wait for it to be available for him.
Our vaccine-hesitant neighbors (whose daughter and Aeryn are good friends) finally got vaxxed. I'm not sure what changed their minds because I'd been trying to avoid a big blowout over it (the kids are all too young to be vaccinated for now and since it's summer all their playdates are outside) until I absolutely had to.
Ugh, I biked 28 miles yesterday and on the one hand it was a great ride but on the other hand I think I inhaled every pollen particle on the Empire State trail and my throat and sinuses are pretty pissed off about it today.
I just can't even with the magnets. Every time I hear about that I am reboggled.
Ugh, pollen. My sympathies.
Our excessive heat warning is supposed to run through this evening but I think today is actually normal temperatures, which is pretty exciting.
There was a woman testifying for a state hearing and she insisted that vaccines make you magnetic. She stuck a key to her upper chest ... and (1) anything flat will stick there if you're in the least bit sweaty or use lotion and (2) keys aren't made of iron and won't be affected by any (real) magnet. Then she tried sticking the key and other things to her neck and nothing stuck. sigh ....
Now ... if the vaccines gave you a magnetic personality, or even if people thought they did, I bet the anti-vaxxers would be eager to get them.
I did not develop Magneto-like powers after receiving my Covid vaccine and let me tell you I feel LET DOWN.
