Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

I've seen videos of the New York subways ... people going through waist-deep water, stairs that are waterfalls. Also one of an office - with people trying to return - more than ankle-deep in water. eesh

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oh yeah, we had a day like that when I lived there, and I eventually made it to the office, right as my colleague who was also my neighbor was calling in that she couldn't get there! Haha.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I've been melting since about 10 am and tomorrow is supposed to be hotter. Rain sounds pleasant, although too much would be a problem even so.

So coincidental that we're all having different kinds of extreme weather hahahah

Not indicative of any kind of underlying cause in common, I'm sure

I just drove through TORRENTIAL rain on the highway. It's been an age since that's happened. Not fun!

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Coincidentally (or not, I guess, given growing seasons), we bought cherries at the store yesterday, so clafouti just went in the oven.

Thrive to spite them

I've read what everyone said and had to take some time to just...sit with all of it and kind of think about things. Everyone has said such amazing stuff and it's not what I expected and I'm still having the urge to go to downplay things. Also work has been tough this week (I'll save you all from my work rant).

But I really am so grateful and thankful for everything everyone has said.

I copied comments over so I could respond to them but I think I'm going to go back and copy some more stuff and keep it so when the brain weasels start I can go back and show them and maybe share some of it with my therapist. If y'all don't find that weird.

-t askye, you are awesome in that I-am-in-awe sense. That's a lot of work you've done and are doing.

Thank you so much.

shrift - definitely talk to your doctor! there are a lot of options both with and without medication. I know some people end up finding better techniques that are similar to the coping mechanisms but work better and are more constructive.

I need to work on using more reminders/dates and timers. I'm really bad about setting reminders and then ignoring them so I've thought about trying a physical date book or planner where I can write down various things, but I don't know if I would actually use it or I am just falling victim to the marketing of planners like Happy Planner and all their stickers and accessories.

Beverly& Dana, I would say if you want to get an assessment or talk to a doctor about ADD you should, not every symptom is going to match exactly especially if there are other factors (including coping mechanisms) or you're on medication that is off label.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Well, two days of PEOPLE (non-staff) in the office and they pretty much ran me ragged - our building's still in lockdown, so I was going up and down in the elevator to get them in, bring in food, etc. Monday the staff returns ... I just sent out an all-staff message reminding people to bring their security fobs, since they'll need them to get in the door, get the elevator upstairs and, unless they manage to get the doors unlocked, get in our actual office.

I think I'm going to go home, collapse and eat something indulgent.
