Y'all see the man hanging out of the spaceship with the really big gun? Now I'm not saying you weren't easy to find. It was kinda out of our way, and he didn't want to come in the first place. Man's lookin' to kill some folk. So really it's his will y'all should worry about thwarting.

Our wings are not tired.

Nice, flea! Very exciting.

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

I would rather live somewhere that's not going to be miserable in the next twenty years due to climate change. Not feeling super-optimistic about that.

"You should never say bad things about the dead, only good… Joan Crawford is dead. Good.” —Bette Davis

Yay! flea!

In less dramatic but still good work-related news, between Tuesday morning and late this afternoon I've gone from being in an anxiety tailspin about not knowing... well, much of anything about an imminent project to feeling I have a pretty good grasp of the overall setup, and getting the okay to bring in my preferred vendor for subcontracting the nuts-and-bolts work. Don't let the door hit you on the way out, Imposter Syndrome!

Nice, Matt!

I just a delicious rice and beef bowl and really good crispy tofu bites from a local place. And I went to the gym. Unrelated except that if I hadn't been at the gym, I might not have picked up takeout on the way home.

My root canal is Monday. I'm pre-indulging myself?

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Good news, Drew! Despite the delays.

Woot, Calli! Good luck on the interview.

Hey, good on the lesser commute, shrift.

Good luck on the reshuffling, -t.

I'm glad your job continues to not try to kill you, Theo.

Hooray for chonky bulldog birthday pets! And drinks with friends.

I'm so sorry about the condo buildings. I hope everybody is found and in good condition.

Yay, Matt. I'm glad you can see the back of Impostor Syndrome!

Congratulations, flea! Can't wait to see the pics.

Yay gym and happy supper, JenP. And may your root canal go without problems.

It is hot here--but I have AC. I'm afraid to laugh in the face of hell, though--the transformer could blow--just to pay me back for laughing.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Woo, Matt!

I would rather live somewhere that's not going to be miserable in the next twenty years due to climate change.

If you come up with a good option for that, I’d like to know about it. I mostly feel like it’s just a matter of which kind of bad you want to risk. Of course, I seem to have chosen fire by accident, and that’s maybe not the best

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Congratulations, Flea!

Climate change is one reason I’m looking to go back to MI. While I’m also on the cold is better side of things, occasional polar vortex aside, MI is getting a bit less cold. The lakes are a buffer against drought. If civilization hiccuped and international trade was suspended, well, that would suck, but there are salt mines, sugar beets, farms, fish, deer and fowl for hunting, and dairy. The only food things I’d miss that can’t be grown there are coffee, chocolate, and spices. The extensive waterways mean trade and travel would resume there more easily than many places. Sure, there are rather too many militia idiots, but they’d give themselves scurvy and run out of ammo pretty fast, since none of them know more about survival beyond “shoot stuff”. I may have given this too much thought. Alternatively, I need to get going on that post-apocalyptic solar punk novel set in Detroit.
