I finished my last summer class, texted "YAY SUMMER" to a friend and then got the call. But he's at the hospital now and they are admitting him, most likely. I am taking a red eye and will be there before dawn tomorrow. I bought a one-way ticket. I have no idea how long I will be there. His dementia is also getting worse. He's apparently showed up at his friend's multiple times asking for a ride to the airport for a trip that isn't supposed to happen until July 7.

Last week his 26 year old daughter here in Ft. Lauderdale overdosed and died. Family isn't sure whether it was intentional. That poor family. It just hurts. She was just a couple months away from my Bobby in age.
How awful. How enormous that families' pain must be to add another tragedy.
Today is a day of celebration as it is the birthday of Cass! Happy birthday my dear. May the year to come be filling with joy.
Boy planned for us to go down to Leucadia (between Carlsbad and Del Mar on the northern San Diego coast) and it was wonderful. We'd both lived in the San Diego area at times in the past and Leucadia hasn't changed a lot (apart from the home prices which were stratospheric and got so much higher) for a few days. So it was really nice.
I think that will be our new "we have a couple of days" and want to get away. Even dog friendly if the dog ever decides that people outside her limited pack are okay...
And today is not a paid annual leave day for me anymore. It's FRICKIN' Juneteenth! Paul Gross Arms for doing the right thing. \o/ (I think there is a trick to the left arm so mine will likely look weird)
I'm actually pissed because I know we had a full day of appointments and I'm sure we just cancelled on them, including sick calls. But we're all aware that my job is shit so I'm not surprised. Vaccines can wait a few days. Sick pets can't.
