It's all about choices, Faith. The ones we make, and the ones we don't. Oh, and the consequences. Those are always fun.

All kinds of health -ma for your mom, Matt. And whatever kind you need, too.

askye, that sucks. Retail is so frustrating.

Yay, Steph, and I hope any reaction is mild.

We're going up to visit DP's mom and my sister and S-i-L this weekend, leaving tomorrow. Should be fun.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

I got shot #2 this morning, and in 2 weeks I should be chock full of antibodies! Hoping for minimal -- or no -- side effects. Allegedly shot #1 is worse than #2 for people who had Covid, because our immune system is already primed to say "Wait a minute...I recognize THIS!!!" And I did feel crappy after shot #1, but not horribly so. Fingers crossed that this shot is no big deal. I am drinking lots of water.

Anecdatally , my side effects were way worse (still better than having COVID) after shot #1. Shot #2 was a little fatigue, two hours of headache and some minor arm soreness. #1 was extreme exhaustion for a couple of days (slept over 20 hours, up for a couple and back to bed for a solid night's sleep) and my arm hurt a lot post-injection and got the reflare of arm pain a few days later. Better than COVID.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Matt, all good thoughts to you and your mom.

Yay for second shots! Definitely better than covid!

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Matilda's scheduled for her second shot this Saturday, at which point the whole immediate family will be vaxxed.

In other good news, San Francisco has resumed Muni train service after 14 months without (to discourage movement through the City during Covid), and Amoeba has returned to being open 7 days a week (after being only Thurs-Sun since September, and closed before that).

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Health~ma to your mom, Matt.

Our cat Nova passed away last night. She had hyperthyroidism, IBD and kidney disease. For the last year or so she had gone through cycles of no eating, going to the vet and getting medicine. The last couple days she hadn't been eating, and barely moved from one spot. Yesterday we noticed her legs were weak and she would twitch a lot. I took her to the emergency vet, where she went into cardiac arrest while being treated.

I am of course feeling guilty that I didn't act sooner. She was 14.

I have an update on my cousin. He is trying to talk now! I thought he had insurance but he doesn't. His job offered it but it was too expensive. So he has Medicaid but a lot of rehab places don't take that.

I do need some ~ma though. The guardianship papers haven't been signed for my cousin's son. It hasn't happened. My other cousin was going to take him for most of the summer but that can't happen without the guardianship nothing can happen.

So that and I guess my cousin getting in a rehab place.

Oh he is trying to talk now. Which is q really good sign

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

Amazon would not interview Mac because he did not have his social security card. They are making him reapply. I am overnighting him his card.

That’s not correct process, social card should not be needed until a job offer is made.

That's right, msbelle. Humph to them.

Yeah that is just weird on Amazon's part.

I skyped with E and I had to explain to him what a soap opera is. He asked me about memories from middle school and I said something about soap operas and he thought I meant actual opera. He doesn't have tv (well they have a tv but he doesn't have cable and they probably don't have an antennae for over the air) .. they have netflix and his screen time is very limited so he's never just aimlessly flipped through channels and watched stuff.

So it was weird trying to explain what a soap opera was and why people liked it.
