Here's hoping, msbelle.
If anyone has spare health~ma, please send it my mom's way. A specialist she saw today went from "I'm reasonably certain it's not cancer" to "we need to get that out of you as soon as possible" after her exam.

Oh no, Matt. Best thoughts.
Fingers crossed for mac getting and keeping a job!
Much ~ma, Matt.
I understand being hesitant over Amazon, msbelle, but a guy I went to HS with has been working for them out here and is a big fan. Fingers crossed for Mac.
I hope Mac finds a job where he can thrive. It seems like a good sign that he found this on his own.
Lots of health ~ma to your Mom Matt.
Sorry for the cereal posting.
Work has been a shit show lately. Going without a store manager for so long did take a toll. Apparently there are people questioning whether we should be called the Best of the Company. But a lot of what happened has been a change in focus for the fulfillment side of things but we were still in Christmas mode. I guess.
Oh and having fitting rooms open but limited locations which means more places to look and being busy enough that the fitting rooms are constantly full and since people don't take the clothes they don't want out and people are going in as soon as someone leaves it can be an hour before you can go and check and then have to dig through the inside out clothes.
Plus they keep moving people around and when people aren't familiar with an area they just put things back where ever or they don't know the subcategories and will put petite clothes with regular clothes.
On top of all of that the store level decision was made since half our business happens on Fri, Sat and Sunday then half of all labor hours will go there. And the other half for M-Th. This means that there were barely 20 people maximum on the salesfloor today.
From 5 pm onward there was 1 person downstairs. Which has 2 sections of home, all of kids (which is huge) and all of mens. One person.
Customers were upset bc they couldn't find people to help them or check them out.
And yesterday and today they forgot to schedule someone to close at the greeter/order pick up. So I went in today and have Sat off. Yesterday we were understaffed and left with over 700 items in the queue to be picked. Today when we opened there was over 1000.
We were beating a much larger store in 1 metric today but they had more uunits. Which of course they did!! They probably had more than 2 people scheduled. We got some help but not nearly enough for the kind of stress. Tbe assistant manager who is my direct supervisor worked 12 hrs yesterday and then I think 11 or 12 today. Just so we can barely meet our goal.
My team lead said he wasn't going to bust his ass to succeed like this because then they would start to expect it all the time.
I get our new store manager is under pressure. I get that we are understaffed etc and so on. But this is unrealistic. It's hurting us over all and I won't pretend it can get done.
My team lead was also supposed to get off at 530 Sunday and stayed until 730. I think he clocked out at one point and kept working . Although he will end up getting a long lunch for going over hours or he'll leave early. Someone else is going to be over their hours too because they stayed late 2x now. I've stayed late a little but I'm not going to stay a half hour past or whatever because they won't schedule enough people..
I won't refuse to do my job but I'm not going to reward understaffing with harder work.
Health~ma for your mom,Matt.
I agree askye. Some types of stupid shouldn’t be rewarded with extra effort.
Yay, Mac’s new job! I hope it works out for him.
Matt, all the best to your mom, and peace of mind to you.
Matt, I'm holding my thumbs for your mother, and for you.
askye, that's a lot of expectation for what sounds like an inadequate reward. I hope things ease up soon.
A dear friend is presenting today at the Pop Culture Association of America's annual conference, which I think is neat. I flashed hard on an image of three of us in a clump, reading the "Dark Phoenix" saga over one another's shoulders.
Me, I'm going to Costco, or will be once the road off the island is clear of fallen trees - fortunately the people in the car they hit are okay. Between this and all the mechanical problems with the ferries, I'm happy to be spared a daily commute.
Matt, I'm sending good vibes your mom's way.
I got shot #2 this morning, and in 2 weeks I should be chock full of antibodies! Hoping for minimal -- or no -- side effects. Allegedly shot #1 is worse than #2 for people who had Covid, because our immune system is already primed to say "Wait a minute...I recognize THIS!!!" And I did feel crappy after shot #1, but not horribly so. Fingers crossed that this shot is no big deal. I am drinking lots of water.
