Oh, smacked in the noggin with a 2x4 wrapped in velvet. Yeah, that's what it felt like.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

ND, that is truly amazing.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Wow, ND, that's incredible. Congratulations. Also, I barely thought that was a rant!

In the end it's only ever been one step, and then the next.

ND, what else are we for, if not to listen? You're doing a fantastic job.

Juliana, I wound up chatting with the teacher after class, and she agreed with my point that she wouldn't feel comfortable pushing us in the poses if she hadn't had the hands-on time with the core group: she's familiar with our bodies and our capabilities, and knows we have the sense to modify or leave a pose out completely if we can't do it.

(We've been working on Crow. I have fallen on my face twice. Like, 'loud crash, Jim comes running from the office, bruises for three days after' fallen. She knows I'll tap out if I can't continue; she hasn't worked enough with the remote students from other parts of the country - we're getting some, it's wild - to be sure they won't push and hurt themselves more.)

I totally understand people missing time interacting with others, but I also think it would be awesome if the option of doing things virtually remained after the pandemic is under control.

Same! I loved going to my yoga studio but I do so much more yoga now that my studios classes are all online and I can do them whenever is convenient for me.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Yeah, I hope we can have a better mix of options for different people's needs. I've seen some people adopting masks as an occasional option even After. I think familiarity with remote stuff will make it more possible, but I fear that it will be over-adopted in cases where it's not as good. The balancing will be key, and i don't have a lot of confidence in a lot of organizations to make good choices.

Somehow I've made it to December, and I haven't had to let go of any of my full time employees, and they all still have healthcare, so we've been just getting through, but this has been insanity.

ND, that is incredible and inspiring. I hope relief comes soon. The acrobatics you must be having to do... and sacrifices on your end, I am quite sure. (I, too, did not see a rant there, but, yeah, rant as needed, always).

Yes, some virtual options added on the regular to the general mix once After gets here would be great for many.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Well, the day went pretty well, considering I realized my sweater was on backwards when I got to work.

"...and then Legolas and the Hulk destroy the entire Greek army." - Penny Arcade

Sheryl, I feel confident in asserting that, one way or another, we have all been there.

Indeed. I can hardly wait to get back to in-person church or to actually drive up to Canada for next year's Surrey International Writers Conference, because while virtual is better than nothing, it's not enough. OTOH, I'm hoping against hope that work will let us stay remote at least 3-4 days/week. I like my job and my coworkers, but our big noisy open plan office is, if not hell, a kind of purgatory for my definitely introverted and possibly ADHD self. I feel like I'm at least as productive and much less stressed despite the occasional inconvenience of not being in the same room with my colleagues. And I'm planning to wear a mask during cold/flu season at least, because colds tend to take out the staff like dominoes, and I've always been one of the susceptible ones.
