Ugh, Sheryl, that's a lot. Hope you get a restful weekend!

Natter 77: I miss my friends. I miss my enemies. I miss the people I talked to every day.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Yay for more vaccinated 'ffistas! (Pfistas?)
I don't know why the process wasn't to allow everyone to register up front, and then actually schedule based on the criteria. That way, when the numbers in that criteria group tail of you can easily move to the next, and/or call up folks if you have prepared doses ready to go. I also don't know why we're spending time and effort trying to convince people who don't want the vaccine to get it, rather than moving on to the next group, where at least 50% will want it.
Still, I think my family will get vaccinated faster than if we were still overseas. State can't figure out how to get the vaccines out to embassies.
My asthmatic 60-year-old sister just got an appointment for next week, in Berkeley. She'll be so happy, since her daughter is getting married next month and was worried about being the only one at the wedding unvaccinated. (Everyone else has qualified for a variety of reasons.)
I just hit the two-week mark, which I think means I can eat indoors with someone not in my pod? SO EXCITE.
-t, I'm glad your dad seems to have gotten through the surgery ok.
David, 50 lbs is almost a whole person! Congratulations! And congrats to Matilda on the running: it's the one practice I have mostly maintained for the last 40 years.
It was a long week and I spent a lot of time on the phone telling people things. Now I have a cocktail (A "Star": equal parts Calvados and sweet vermouth, with some bitters, and a cherry), and the dog wants dinner, and then I will watch some MCU on Disney+.

At least 7 babies!
Swearing off babies does wonders for the cholesterol, too.
I hear.

Heh. "Is it babies?"
Talked to my dad and he is giddy with how much better he feels. He was on local anesthetic for the stent and could watch the screen showing his arteries, I guess? Says it was like watching a Bergman film, all black and white mysterious flows of substance, apparently it was very clear when the stent was in place and the one artery went from liking like a balloon with a string pinching it shut to a great torrent and all the other veins etc in view had a bunch more blood to work with. I am amazed at the state of medicine these days.
Also talked to my mom who is much more tired than he is after all that, but happy.
That's wonderful, -t! Also, with a local as opposed to heavy sedation, recovery is a lot lot easier, so I'm not surprised that he's immediately feeling a lot better, instead of fighting through the post-anesthetic gronk.
That's great, -t. I love that he was able to watch.
DH is running a jackhammer taking out the old Spanish tile on my pool deck. Next project on the pre-sale list. Going to put down travertine, new coping, and extend the deck a few feet for a lounge chair area. Tricky part is keeping the debris out of my pool since I really don't want to stop swimming every day. I had to take a few days off when they moved the pipes and it was torture.
Making preliminary plans to have surgery to remove my annoying prolapsed uterus. Both my sisters and my mother lost theirs long before my age. Basically doctor says it is the inevitable solution at some point and although surgery never a fun option, better at 67 than 77 or 87. Mostly just talking myself into it. I have to contact the doctor that did my foot surgery because I know it was the 5th pain killer we tried that stayed down so I need to find out what it was. I am a super lightweight and can't take most medications it seems. I had a DNA thing done so I'll give the surgeon the long list of stuff that I can't take. It wasn't cool to find out I couldn't take pain killers AFTER my bunion surgery. Going to be prepared this time. I took nothing but Ibuprofen after my appendix was taken out, and that was mighty uncomfortable. Anyway, not an urgent thing so doing my prep work.
Welcome Spring!
Trying to motivate myself to leave the house. I need to do some shopping, but even now I'm mentally justify pushing it off until tomorrow....
