Meanwhile in Brazil, we still have the worst President, vaccination is basically stalled, ICUs are full, and Sao Paulo just went to into full deep lockdown so it's back to teach from home with all kids at home. For at least 3 weeks.
We are looking into flying back to the US, but residence in MN means we would be better ofd than in some states, but since we aren't teachers in MN we can't make an appointment yet. Boo.
Timelies all!
Got woken up early by Nova yowling. Ugh...
And now I'm thinking Davis is actually in Yolo county. YOLO
I'm easily amused
WTAF is going on with Cuomo? What a disappoint, creepy mf.
I have had SUCH a week, y'all. We had Monday off as a furlough day, maybe that's the problem? 5 days' worth of stress and bullshit cramming itself into 4 days? Although about 3 of them saved up and attacked today. (At least I ended the day working on a fun project and chatting with an engineer who's super-fun to talk to. And if I take his suggestion that turning my slightly under-done brownies into a brownie sundae might be good, well, there's nobody here to judge but my cat).
Meanwhile I’ve been in touch with a friend who volunteered the same day I did...and he got an email about his appointment, and was texted a time. And I wasn’t. Grrrrrrrr. Thankfully I’m volunteering again tomorrow and hopefully can get someone to either give me an appointment or give me a shot or something.
For your second shot, right meara?
When my sister took my dad to the VA for his, her plan was to just stick her arm out every now and then and hope somebody stuck a needle in it. Didn't work.
brenda, my vaccine twin, how did you feel after your shot? I was unnaturally tired Thursday afternoon, and my arm was sore. It was a bit sorer today, and my upper left lat hurt too, but I'm used to being sore in one spot or another, and otherwise feel fine. I'm hoping my side-effects are as light as DH's after his shot.
Cindy, your news makes me very happy. (ETA brenda, yay!) My goddaughter received her first shot yesterday; she's a middle-school teacher whose school went back to hybrid in-person classes on the 8th, and I admit I cried a little when she showed me her card.
amyparker, I get it. I was a little overwhelmed when my younger son even got his appointment. I know there are no easy solutions, but I hate to see teachers go back without the vaccine. I'm glad your niece got hers.

He's an engineer, Epic. I think he understands basic design principles.
Same. I barely felt the shot itself. My upper arm, below where the injection was, was really sore and stiff but that’s wearing off now. I was pretty wiped on Thursday evening but I also haven’t been getting enough sleep this week so it’s hard to say if it’s really related.
Smooth sailing basically so I hope that continues.
