"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

One thing is that I may schedule a haircut. I think I do not have the tolerance for hair I have to actually do things with anymore.

Fortunately you know you can rock a pixie cut. It looked so striking when you let it go gray.

Which autocorrect made Marulanda???? Wtf is that?

[goes to double check Birth cert to make sure I didn't accidentally name her Marulanda]

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

We went ahead and reserved a rental house near Glacier National Park for a week in late August, since it's overwhelmingly likely Dylan and I will both be fully vaccinated by then, with a decent shot that Alex will be as well, and if not we're going to be driving there anyway so we can still socially distance. I'm ridiculously happy at the prospect of traveling again and going someplace I've never been before, but it still feels too good to be true.

We're also tentatively planning a weekend trip to Oklahoma in July for Dylan's 31-year high school reunion (since the 30th was canceled last summer), but I'm not as wildly enthusiastic about that because A) plane travel and B) Oklahoma in July is far, FAR less appealing than Montana in August.

Apparently if you're enough of a power nerd, there is nothing that cannot be flowcharted.

Now I have to decide what to do with my new superpowers.

Please be benevolent. At least to us.

I am deliriously happy with my haircut and color. Even though I work from home and go nowhere, so it's pretty much just me looking at myself in the mirror and grinning, I'm thrilled with it. (I don't mind how it looks when it's longer; I just have sensory issues that are getting worse as I get older, and I cannot stand feeling my hair on my shoulders and upper back. It's maddening.)

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I've basically stuck to my quarterly cut-and-color, and it's about time, and I was thinking, "Well, my roots aren't too bad, are they?" so I took a picture of the top of my head and it was shocking! My mother assures me it doesn't look like that in person. (And of course she is the only person who sees me in person.)

Ha! Even more unpleasant I can assure you is having your son (who is taller than you) inform you that your hair is thinning at the crown. Thanks, Emmett. I was happily ignorant before.

The interesting thing about waiting a year (my stylist checked the record, and it was 364 days) for color is that my roots showed how much my hair grows in 1 year. Which is more than I thought.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

My sister cut my hair when I saw her at New Year's. It had been getting so long (like, to my waist) that it was straining my shoulders to brush it. This cut isn't perfect (she tried for long layers so that the curls wouldn't pile up, but it didn't quite work out), but at least it's manageable and looks decent.

With this short (homemade) cut, I don't notice my greys nearly as much; I'm not sure why. Anyway, I'm letting it grow out a bit now so a stylist will have something to work with once I finally get there. I don't think I'm going to worry about color for now.

Actually, what a want is a lisah rainbow color on brunette job... I need to ask her for her stylist! We live far enough apart that I can safely copycat without cramping her style, I think. But also close enough that I would make the trip to the stylist and try to meet up with msbelle, lisah, and sarameg.

I mean, like, when we can do those things again.
