Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

For your amusement, the Fellowship of the Ring as Girl Scout cookies. (one guess as to who's the Thin Mint)

The Fellowship of the Cookies is terrific!

Still the prettiest.

We just got a call that one of the puppy’s litter mates has been diagnosed with parvovirus so we get to watch and worry for a while. Our pup seems fine and the rescue is obviously being proactive and responsible but :/!

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Love the Fellowship of the GSCs.

I almost forgot amidst all the everything, but it's Pancake Tuesday! In 2020, Pancake Tuesday was the last time I ate out in a restaurant, and that restaurant has since gone under. So as anniversaries go, it's a bit bittersweet. But, I have an excuse to make pancakes tonight.

I hope all the Texan Buffistas and their families stay warm. One of my favorite recent TikToks is a woman from the Keweenaw Peninsula (which averages 300 inches of snow a year) bitching out Midwesterners for being mean to Texans. "They don't have snow dumps down there! They're not built for this! Be nicer!"

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

That seem shocking JenP. I actually didn't think of the pun until I typed it!

I hope everyone is warm. I will stop bitching that they cleared the sidewalks here, and then plowed the roads and the driveways so that you cannot pass the sidewalk.

I want to try the tuna recipe with zucchini noodles. I recently did cauliflower rice with an egg beaten in and parmesan, and it was so satisfying. Just needed bacon. Probably too many carbs for Keto, still, but pandemic kind of put me off the really strict wagon.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I refuse to leave the house because there's winter out there, so I didn't get any paczki (not that I've found gluten-free ones anywhere anyway), so maybe I'll make pancakes for dinner.

I can't imagine Steph without paczki!

Are Fasnacht Kuechle the same thing ish?

Is there an Italian American or Scots-Irish American version?

Are fastnacht kuechles filled with jelly or custard? If they are, then they're probably pastry siblings.

Is there an Italian American or Scots-Irish American version?

I don't know, but I'd bet there's something similar. The idea behind them is to use up the sugar, butter, and lard that were traditionally abstained from during Lent.

Well, from my very thorough wikipedia search, the Scotts Irish version is "Donuts". And Italy has Struffoli, Pignolata, Guanti, (Assisi) Bastoncello, (Calabria) Scaddateddi, Zeppole, Chiacchiere, Lattughe (this may not be classifiable as doughnut, but it is fried pastry, in a Lettuce" style) Cenci, Donzelle, Frappe, Sfrappole, Bugie, Crostoli, Frittelle, Grispelli (potato dough speciality from the Catanzaro region), Ciambelli (Cocullo, Abruzzi), Bomboloni (Bombolonas), and (Palermo, Sicily) Sfingi.
