We'll, that sucks. Negative test ~ma to her.

Atropa - so skilled! I'm not at all surprised, but it's still a thing of beauty to behold.

I made my first ever pie crust. I've cobbled together basic graham cracker things before, and I've made dough for empanadas, which is kind of similar, but this is my first honest goodness, pie will go in it crust. I mean, it's gluten free, so who knows, but it looks and acts how I would expect it to. I'm 53, and just got my very first very own pie pan today.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Fingers crossed, David. You too, Steph.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

I'm so sorry David. I hope the call comes soon and gives you the all clear.

"I feel I have exceeded my potential in my current role, and am ready for more responsibilities and challenges."

along with the appropriate salary increase," of course.

FIL-ma, Steph.

I have that book, Toddson. It's a good book--well, I liked it. Also, Zoo Vet, Among the Elephants, Red Man of the Forest (orangs), and the Jackals, Hyenas, and Cape Wild Dogs book, Innocent Killers, by Jane Goodall and her husband at the time, Hugo van Lawick, and dozens more. I've been intrigued with animal behavior all my life. By me, Goodall had the perfect job.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Negative test~ma for Steph’s FiL and Emmet’s roommate’s GF.

In far less dire news, I curdled the curd in one of the cranberry curd pies I’m making. Luckily it’s not the one for Amyth and her buds, but it is the one I was planning on distance sharing with others tomorrow. WtF, eggs? I tempered you like whoa. Why you gotta get feisty on me?

Thanks. Btw, JenP, I made the Reddit Apple Cream pie!

I made the Reddit Apple Cream pie!

Cool! What's the verdict?

Good luck, David/Emmett! Also, how is the apple cream pie? It sounds tasty to me.

"I feel I have exceeded my potential in my current role, and am ready for more responsibilities and challenges

Dang, you ARE really good at this. The annoying thing is, it's not an actual "promotion", just a title change from like, Teapot Manager to Senior Teapot Manager--the actual tasks/day to day wouldn't change at all (though in theory I"d be more likely to have bigger projects, in reality it mostly depends on what's needed)

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

I have cranberry-satsuma-ginger sauce cooling on the stove, and a ground almond pie crust just came out of the oven. This will be the first year in over a decade that I don't make a maple-walnut pie for Thanksgiving: my niece requested chocolate cream pie instead.

My boss is retiring in December, my most-competent coworker is going on maternity leave for 5 months in January, and we have no idea who is going to replace my boss, or who will be the interim team lead while the hiring process grinds slowly to its finish. I don't actually want to be the team lead, but wouldn't mind the interim job, if it comes with a short-term salary bump. In the meantime I'm just sort of grinding along on my own projects, with minimal oversight. It's not so bad, I must remember how awful it is to have a micromanager.

It looks good. Not eating it until tomorrow. Running out of gas now, but I've done a lot of precooking.

Tomorrow should be relatively easy. Except for the part that we may have to drive 90 minutes north to drop off Thanksgiving food with Emmett if he can't come down.
