Yeah, I had loads of fun with April 1st when the kids were at home, but don't indulge anymore. They loved it.
Quite sure it isn't a joke, but apparently for the next 30 days I have full self-driving ability in my car. I did notice when I drove to the park this morning that my surround display was substantially enhanced where I could see farther behind and to the sides, lane painting, lights, and so forth. I always had some, but more detail. I'm not going to try it out in downtown Ft. Lauderdale traffic, but around the park and mall where I charge is fine. I've noticed lately it wants to park for me all the time too, but I still do it myself.
As I typed this DH came through and said he was going to the phone store to upgrade his phone, so I told him to take my car and play with it. He left his phone on top of the car where it slid off in traffic and was smushed. Someone found it and he repaired the screen, but some other functions still don't work, so new phone. We can't count the number of times he has driven off with things on top of the car, or when he had the truck on the back bumper. Sigh, he is so brilliant with so many things, and so completely scatterbrained in other ways.
April 1, aka Internet Jackass Day.
Indeed. Of course, in recent years it has become increasingly difficult to trust anything there. I am particularly annoyed with the stunning, but fake, photography. The world has so many wonders for fabulous photos, why you gotta be that way?
Right, it's April 1st. Stupid April 1st.
Friends of ours eloped on April 1st several years ago, and I genuinely didn't believe them. It was for real, though. This is the risk a person runs when they do a thing on April 1st.
"Top of the car" is a much more casually convenient place for him than for most of us.
3 day weekend was really nice and I feel more human, but I am just really really over this whole work thing.

Ooh DCP has a good point!
Someone tell me to stop booping people on Tumblr and get to work.

I haven't opted in, because I know I'll end up booping all day, when I have a pile of work to get through.

I'm afraid I can't encourage that.
I woke up at 6am and realized I had forgotten to put the garbage and recycling cans out last night, so hustled down in the dark to do that. (And I can hear them being dumped into the truck right now as I type.)
I suppose I should check in with my CPA to make sure we've filed an extension on my taxes (it can't be done until some quarterly report related to the business sale comes in).
But I definitely have to pay property taxes in the next few days, on their weird irregular schedule.
I think my tasks today will mostly relate to pushing things forward with JZ's memorial.
Sun's out, and I've had coffee and Matilda is sleeping in on this school holiday. So time to hi-de-ho out and do my run.
I read a letter to an advice columnist in today's paper - her birthday is April 1 and she's constantly subjected to "pranks". Like a "birthday present" that's an empty box. Or her husband telling her he wants a divorce. Or going to a meeting on April 1 and people yelling "surprise" but it's not a party.
Columnist said this wasn't nice and wasn't funny. Also suggested she take her husband at his word.
