Place I lived years ago used to get WINGED ants - first time they saw them, assumed they were termites, which led to all kinds of worries. Once they were identified, things calmed down.

I get the winged variety of ants in NY and they are an added level of horror.

Susan, do you still live in the Greenwood/Phinney Ridge area? We learned that there's a HUGE ant colony that spans those two entire neighborhoods. (Our pest control company let us know that while we were still living in the area and dealing with ants ALL THE TIME.)

That's like something out of a horror movie, or an X-File.
No ants yet. We had a few last year, but not too bad. My SIL is in pest control so we have the good stuff ready if they come back.
